CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and Greenville Speedway officials are hopeful that the third time will be a charm for the twice rescheduled $5,000-to-win Rumble On The Gumbo 75 this Thursday, Friday and Saturday on the ¼-mile black gumbo clay oval in Greenville, MS. The is Round 6 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS season.
Inclement weather has caused delays in preparing the track’s new black gumbo clay surface over the past month, but Greenville Speedway was able to get their season opener in last Saturday night. Track Promoter James Clolinger reported the new clay worked in well and provided a competitive surface.
“The drivers were all happy with the new clay, and they were racing three and four wide all night long,” Clolinger said. “We did have a small hole develop, but we were able to fix that this week, and we’re ready for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rumble On The Gumbo 75 this weekend.”
The action at Greenville Speedway for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour begins on Thursday night with a practice session. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the practice will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
On Friday night, the gates open at 4 p.m. with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:45 p.m. and racing is scheduled for 7 p.m. The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will compete in Qualifying to earn starting spots for the Heat Races that will fill the front of the field.
On Saturday night, the gates open at 3 p.m. with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Check-In from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:40 p.m., and racing is scheduled for 6 p.m. The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will compete in B-Main Races to fill the back of the 24-car starting field for the $5,000-to-win 3rd Annual Rumble On The Gumbo 75 later in the evening.
