UFo Blasts Off for 2013 at Hesston May 26

(Mars, PA) Hesston Speedway will host its first of six UFo events on Sunday, May 26. “Mega-Blitz Mach3” will pay a total of $8,088 to win for Super Late Models, split into twin 38 lap features. The twin races will pay a total of $500 for 24th, and $400 total to start the 27-car minimum feature grids. The event will be co-sanctioned with the Three State Flyers Super Late Model racing series.

The 2013 UFo Championship will consist of six Super Late Model events at Hesston. Hesston has secured point fund sponsorship for the UFo Championship from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, American Racer, Lias Tire & Precise Racing. These sponsorships along with track contributions will allow for a $6,500 point fund based on the completion of the 6 race series.

The 2013 UFo Champion will receive $2,000, with the point fund paying back to 7th position. Perfect event attendance is required for point fund eligibility and any forfeited point fund money will be redistributed to the drivers with perfect attendance. Hesston Speedway will administer the point fund, which will be paid upon sponsor funding. All Hesston events will be co-sanctioned with Three State Flyers with Three State Flyers paying a separate point fund for their full schedule of races.

The 2013 UFo Championship will operate under the same rules, procedures and management that were utilized in the 2008-2011 season. The original UFo website is now running at http://www.ufochampionship.com with a complete history of this regional series.

“Mega-Blitz Mach 3” on will feature a total of three late model feature races with over 100 laps of late model feature racing as the track’s Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) will race 30 laps for $1,000 to win. A-Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will pay $700 with Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stocks) paying $400 to win. The rain date for “Mega-Blitz Mach 3” is Sunday, June 16.

Pit gates will open at 1:30 on May 26 with grandstands opening at 3:30. Drivers meeting and registration cut off is at 4:45. The first session of racing will begin at 5:30 with A-Cadet heats, Hobby-Modified championship and Super Late Model warm-ups. After full track prep, the second session of racing will begin approximately 7:30 with the full Super Late Model and Semi-Late Model Sportsman programs plus A-Cadet championship. Adult grandstand admission is $24 with juniors 10-16 half price at $12. Children 10 and under are free in grandstands. All pit tickets are $38. Super Late Model entry fee is $35. All ticket prices include 5% amusement tax.

Hesston Speedway requires use of RACEceiver 1-way communication and transponders for scoring. Track transponders may be rented for $15. The Hesston transponder system is compatible with both AMB (red) and Westhold (yellow) transponders.

UFo will have the highest minimum payoff of any series in the region, with all events paying at least $4,044 to win and $300 to start. UFo events at Hesston will pay out over $165,000 to the Super Late Models. Additional 2013 events include “Revolution 2013” on Thursday, July 4 paying $5,222 to win, “Eriksen Grand Prix” on Sunday, July 28 paying $4,044 to win, “Superthunder Road” on Sunday, September 1 paying $4,044 to win, “Moonsault Scramble” on Friday, October 11 paying $4,044 to win and “The Ultimate” on Saturday, October 12 paying $10,000 to win.

UFo Champions include Alex Ferree in 2008-2009, Chad McClellan in 2010, Devin Friese in 2011 and Keith Barbara in 2012. Three State Flyers champions include Jason Covert from 2009-2011 and Gregg Satterlee in 2012. Super Late Model major event winners since the track was purchased by DR Eriksen include Jim Yoder, Jeremy Miller, Ron Delano Jr, Jeff Rine, Jamie Lathroum, Nick (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son, Gregg Satterlee, Rick Eckert and Tim Fuller. In 2012, Hesston averaged 41 Super Late Models at each event.
