FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hesston/Steel Block Bandits Tech Bulletin and GM Crate Bonus

(Hesston, PA) Semi-Late Model Sportsman competitors are reminded that the following weight limits will apply for all Hesston 2013 events, including those sanctioned by the Steel Block Bandits. The 2013 weight rules for Hesston are a compromise between the 2012 Hesston weight limits and current Steel Block Bandits rules. This compromise of weight limits has allowed the track to secure 3 series dates in 2013. Track officials have determined that these weight limits are the correct variances to equalize the various motor categories on the 4/10 mile at “motor mountain.”

Hesston/Williams Grove/Bedford/Hagerstown etc.-legal limited 358 motors – 2,350 with 8” spoiler.

Open 358 steel block motors - 2,400 with aluminum heads requiring a 50 lb. weight on or in front of the motor mid-plate. 8” spoiler.

Open steel block motors up to 430 ci. - 2,450 with no mid-plate requirement. The 2,450 weight is also an option for open 358 aluminum head motors without a mid-plate. 8” spoiler.

GM 604 motors - 2,200 with 12” spoiler and 4” x 32” spillboard with 1” ridge on nose.

GM 602 - 2,100 with 12” spoiler and 4” x 32” spillboard with 1” ridge on nose.

For Steel Block Bandits events at Hesston, Ford crate motors will be permitted using Steel Block Bandits weight rules for 2,200 for D347SR and 2,100 for D347JR with 8” spoilers.

Steel Block Bandits tire rule will apply for all Hesston events with the exception of any compound permitted on the inside front tire. The other 3 tires must be AR 44 or harder, Hoosier 1300 or harder and durometer a minimum of 32 at any time.

Hesston Speedway will offer a bonus for competitors utilizing a sealed GM 604 or 602 crate motor in Semi-Late Model Sportsman competition on May 11. The highest finishing GM crate motor car will receive $400 if finishing within the top five in the feature or $150 if finishing outside of the top five.

The first of three Steel Block Bandits events at Hesston will be on Saturday, May 11 with the “Night of Power.” The 35 lap SBB Semi-Late Model Sportsman championship will pay $1,500 to win and $160 to start. A-Cadets will race for $700, Hobby-Modified for $400 and Roadrunners for $250. The Penn-Mar Vintage Coupes will also compete.

The Steel Block Bandits will appear at Hesston two addition times in 2013 including “Superthunder Road” on Sunday, September 1 and “The Ultimate” on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 10-11-12.

“Motor Mountain” is located in the scenic Raystown Lake and mountain country of central PA and provides a wonderful opportunity for race fans and race teams to make a complete weekend getaway when attending the racing events at Hesston. Promoter DR Eriksen has transformed Hesston into a showplace in just two short seasons, with additional improvements on the drawing board. Major expansions have given the track more seating, parking and pit space to accommodate these major events. All fans are provided an excellent view of the action, with grandstand seating and drive-in viewing built high above the racing surface. Hesston welcomes campers and now offers in track-camping on the back straight viewing ramp.
