$8,088 to Win at “Mega-Blitz” Mach 3 at Hesston May 26

(Mars, PA) The mighty Super Late Models will invade the high banks of Hesston for the first time in 2013 on Sunday night, May 26. “Mega-Blitz Mach3” will pay a total of $8,088 to win for Super Late Models. The event will be co-sanctioned with the Three State Flyers Super Late Model racing series.

In 2012, Hesston established itself as a major force in late model racing. High payoffs and an excellent racing surface allowed Hesston to attract an average 70 late model cars on its mega-events, with averages of 41 Super Late Models and 29 Semi-Late Model Sportsman. 2013 features even stronger payoffs and many track improvements including new clay on the turns.

“Mega-Blitz Mach3” is a triple thrill with over 100 full-power feature laps in 3 championship features between the two late model divisions. The UFo and Three State Flyers Super Late Models will race in twin 38 lap championship features paying $8,088 total to win both races. Each feature will start at least 27 cars, with $500 total for 24th and $400 total to start. All non-qualifiers will receive $175. The Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) will race 30 laps for $1,000 to win. A-Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will pay $700 in a 25-lap championship. Hobby-Modifieds (pure/strictly stocks) will race 20 laps for $400 to win.

Three provisional will be included in the 27-car Super Late Model field at “Mega-Blitz Mach3.” One provisional for UFo and one provisional for Hesston Speedway will be determined by last year’s point standings. The provisional for Three State Flyers will be determined by this year’s point standings. In all cases, the top driver in point rankings not qualifying through a heat race or consolation will receive the provisional. For UFo and Hesston 2013 points, all feature provisional will receive consolation points only (70 points) regardless of finish in fairness to all drivers that competing for series points.

The rain date for “Mega-Blitz Mach 3” is Sunday, June 16. On May 26, pit gates will open at 1:30 on May 26 with grandstands opening at 3:30. Drivers meeting and registration cut off is at 4:45. The first session of racing will begin at 5:30 with Hobby-Modified Heats, A-Cadet Heats and Super Late Model warm-ups. After full track prep, the second session of racing will begin approximately 7:00 to 7:30 with the full Super Late Model and Semi-Late Model Sportsman programs plus A-Cadet championship. Adult grandstand admission is $24 with juniors 10-16 half price at $12. Children 10 and under are free in grandstands. All pit tickets are $38. Super Late Model entry fee is $35. All ticket prices include 5% amusement tax.

Hesston Speedway requires use of RACEceiver 1-way communication and transponders for scoring. Track transponders may be rented for $15. The Hesston transponder system is compatible with both AMB (red) and Westhold (yellow) transponders.

UFo will have the highest minimum payoff of any series in the region, with all events paying at least $4,044 to win and $300 to start. UFo events at Hesston will pay out over $165,000 to the Super Late Models. Additional 2013 events include “Revolution 2013” on Thursday, July 4 paying $5,222 to win, “Eriksen Grand Prix” on Sunday, July 28 paying $4,044 to win, “Superthunder Road” on Sunday, September 1 paying $4,044 to win, “Moonsault Scramble” on Friday, October 4 paying $4,044 to win and “The Ultimate” on Saturday, October 5 paying $11,011 to win.

UFo Champions include Alex Ferree in 2008-2009, Chad McClellan in 2010, Devin Friese in 2011 and Keith Barbara in 2012. Three State Flyers champions include Jason Covert from 2009-2011 and Gregg Satterlee in 2012.
