My question is this, my black front rocket calls for a 19 3/4 rack but ive found a great deal on a 19 1/4 rack so what does that half inch difference mean exactly? Is it in the way it mounts or is it something that could be compensated for in the tie rods?

It is the distance between the two mounting points for tie rods. Your bump steer would be a mess. You need the correct rack.

So is there anyway to compensate for the difference?

Not unless you are talking about making a new end for the rack. The rack width is critical.

Whats wrong with your rack, or don't you have one?
Is the rack you want to buy the same make as yours .....if you have one?

DON'T waste your money on the wrong spec rack.If you have a rack you can repair them. They're are PLENTY of used racks out there for black f/e cars.

I'm putting this rocket together part by part and now it's time for the rack. Guy I know that makes a living selling used racecar parts has a 19 1/4 sweet for 275 but that's all that he has and there isn't any swap meets before the end of the year in my neck of the woods.

I have a 4.19 ratio Woodward 19-3/4 rack that was a spare on my 05 black front Rocket. I disassembled and cleaned it, deburred the shaft, put it back together, regreased it, and put on new boots. It is ready to go and has not been on a car since. I will ship it to you for $250. Can send pics if interested. Contact me at davemagee96@yahoo.com
