CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 9 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season saw the points spread tighten up at the top of the list. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS still leads the point standings, but he has a new challenger behind him in the second spot.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS took his third straight win on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to move up to the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Arnold has 435 points with four wins, ten top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races. Arnold finished seventh on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway driving the Reynolds Motorsports/Billy Riels Racing GRT and still has an eight-point lead. Daspit has 427 points after four wins and ten top five finishes in ten NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series starts.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS finished fourth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Mackmer Home Buyers Special and moved up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 398 points. Mackmer has four top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 12 races.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 9 competition, as he concentrated on the three NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division races held over the weekend where he is also in the top ten of the points. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS did like-wise and both drivers dropped in the standings.

Lee dropped to the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 379 points after one win and 11 top five finishes in 12 races driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT. Scarbrough is fifth in the standings with 349 points after one win, four top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in ten starts driving the Villa South Trak-Star.

Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 320 points after six top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in nine races driving the Lee Racing Trak-Star.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN moved up to the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings after taking his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Taylormade Performance Special. Waggoner has 294 points after four wins and six top five finishes in six starts.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS moved into the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings with a fourth-place finish on Sunday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star. Jordan is eighth in the standings with 289 points after three top five finishes in nine starts.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO drove the Custom Race Cars Trak-Star to his first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO. That moved Moore up to the ninth spot in the standings with 287 points after one win, six top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in eight races.

Roger Witt of Batesville, AR rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 280 points after a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway. Witt has one win, four top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight races.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 9 action, Rodgerick Dykes of Smith Station, AL drove the Braswell Bodies Warrior to victory on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL picked up his third win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the BP Racing Special.

Buster Deen of Crosby, TX was the winner on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX driving the Freedom Air Motorsports Special. Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Sunday night at Greenville Speedway driving the Greg’s Sawmill Special.

Daspit’s win brought two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their 15th NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the 2013 season, and they remain the leader of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings.

Four-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR and Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV are tied for the second spot, as Arnold gave GRT their seventh win of the season and Petty gave Rocket their seventh win of the season.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is in the fourth spot after Dykes gave them their third win of the season. Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN are also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge.

After eight weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition, a total of 257 different drivers have earned points. The complete NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS point standings are posted on the NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS web site at www.nesmithracing.com.
