CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has issued the following Technical Bulletin for the $2,000-to-win 40-lap Touring Division event this Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA. All competitors will be required to run mufflers on their race cars for this event.
Boyd’s Speedway General Manager Gar (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son said no specific part number muffler is required, but mufflers must meet the following criteria as per the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Rules:
WHEN MANDATED MUFFLER’S MUST HAVE SOME TYPE OF INTERNAL NOISE DAMPENING CHARACTERISTICS, BAFFLES, EXTRUDED HOLES, SCREEN, CHAMBERED, ETC. MUFFLER’S MUST MEET LOCAL SPEEDWAY’S NOISE DECIBEL REQUIREMENTS EXTERNAL MUFFLER’S ONLY.
NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Competition/Technical Director Tim Sims said an open can with a pipe in each end is not acceptable. When mufflers are checked, if they do not meet the above rules they will be deemed wrong.
Mufflers will not be required for the Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series event at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN, the $4,000-to-win 2nd Annual J.T. Kerr Memorial 40. Competitors are asked to take note of the schedule for both races, as both tracks operate under a strict curfew.
On Friday night at Boyd’s Speedway, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:45 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 7 p.m.
