CARTERSVILLE, GA – The close battle for the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Championship continues this weekend with four races on the schedule of events for Week 10 of the 27-week season. Trey Bright of Coker, AL leads Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL by two points going into the weekend.
Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will host a Friday night special event for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division. The remaining three Week 10 events will happen on Saturday night.
Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will present a $1,000-to-win race co-sanctioned by the Mississippi Street Stock Series. Also hosting Saturday night NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 10 events are Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL and St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.
Bright leads the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division with 390 points, and Spears is in the second spot with 388 points. Bright had a big weekend in Week 9 competition with two wins to bring his total to five on the season. Bright posted victories last week at Whynot Motorsports Park and Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.
Dave Nations of Raymond, MS holds down the third spot, just ten points behind Bright, with 380 points. Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS is fourth with 338 points and Wayne Medders of Morton, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 315 points.
Stacy Herron of Kiln, MS sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 307 points, and will be looking for his second straight win this Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway. Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS is seventh with 298 points and Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is eighth with 290 points.
The early season point leader Jerrod Fremin of Montz, LA has dropped to the ninth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 254 points, and Jeffrey Walker of Meridian, MS rounds out the Top 10 with 241 points.
Drivers that race at NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 29. The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.
