Pair of Top Fives for Iron Motorsports Over Memorial Day Weekend; DLM Dream Next

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and the Iron Motorsports team roared back into action on May 24-26 in an American Late Model Series (ALMS) tripleheader. On Friday night at the Mount Pleasant Speedway in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, Jeep ran second in his heat race, but later broke an oil pump belt in the $2,000 to win feature, which led to a disappointing nineteenth place performance. In another $2,000 to win showdown on Saturday evening at the Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio, Jeep once again ran second in heat race action before climbing three spots in the A-Main to finish third behind only winner Matt Miller and runner-up Dona Marcoullier.

The busy Memorial Day holiday weekend then wrapped up for the #55 team on Sunday at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Jeep laid down the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later finished third in his heat race. The Pinconning, Michigan ace then started the $2,000 to win main event from the inside of the fifth row, but marched forward to claim a fourth place performance behind only winner Jeff Babc0ck, Jacob Hawkins, and Jonathan Davenport. Jeep and his #55 team now plan to take the upcoming May 31-June 1 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition to prepare for the 19th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ by Ferris Commercial Mowers. The Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio will once again play host to the sport’s richest first place prize on Saturday, June 8, as a $100,000 paycheck will be in the balance. However, in a new twist, Twin 25 lap feature events will be held on both Thursday ($2,500 to win each) and Friday ($5,000 to win each) leading up to Saturday’s normal format. The three-day crown jewel extravaganza on June 6-8 now boasts a potential 31 races and 567 laps, with a posted payoff of $304,575.00.
