why do people jack up the rear of car at the track and do you put the cars on jackstands at home or just let them sit on ground

I know some let the air out of the tires when new for a few heat cycles to lock in stagger.

We've always put all 4 corners on jackstands and allowed the suspension to sag. The theory being that if you left the car on the ground the springs would take a "set" in one position and would be hard to adjust for each time you ran. Sorry, no data to back it up from here, has just been the practice we've observed over the years. Might talk to spring makers and get their take on the issue.

BTW, we run asphalt, springing a car is a more critical issue.

To make changes, 90% of changes are to the rear of the car. Ours went on stands because we cleaned the tires and stored them and it make it easier to work on the car..
