Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Models $3,000-to-win on Saturday, June 22 at Volunteer Speedway

BULLS GAP, Tenn. — There’s a saying “the third time’s the charm,” and hopefully that holds true for the scheduled $3,000-to-win Southern Regional Racing Series event for Saturday, June 22 at Volunteer Speedway. Going back to August of 2012 and then at the first weekend in May of this year, both SRRS shows were canceled due to rain.

Josh Putnam of Killen, Ala., the 2011 SRRS champion is looking to win another title in 2013, along with a couple of full-time Volunteer State contenders in Jason Welshan of Maryville and Ryan King of Seymour, plus 2012 rookie of the year Josh Henry of Newport.

From around East Tennessee expect to see in action five-time Volunteer Speedway Super Late Model champion Vic Hill of Morristown, two-time track champ Mark Douglas of Knoxville, Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Mark Vineyard of Powell, Chad Ogle of Sevierville, Stacy Boles of Clinton, Josh Collins of Knoxville, and others.
Racing besides the Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Models will be the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Pro (Crate) Late Model and Modified Hobby divisions.
The pit gate will open Saturday, June 22 at 4 p.m. and the grandstands at 6 p.m. Hotlaps are tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:45 p.m. (once the sun begins to set over the track), to be followed by qualifying and then racing action beginning around 9 p.m.
Adult grandstand admission is $15, youth (ages 11-15) $10, with kids 10-and-under admitted free in the grandstands. Pit passes and backside tier-parking $30, regardless of age.
