Jared Hawkins Scores Third Win of 2013
Fairmont, West Virginia (06/18/13) – Jared Hawkins entered a pair of events in West Virginia over the weekend in his #37 Rick Sturms Motorsports/Rocket Super Late Model, and by the time the weekend was complete he had a feature win and a fourth place finish to show for his efforts.
On Friday night the weekend opened at Elkins Raceway (Kerens, West Virginia) with a Weekly Racing Series Event. Jared stormed to the win in his heat race before, which resulted in him starting ninth in the feature. Despite starting deep in the field he quickly worked through the pack on his way to the victory. The action shifted to Beckley Motorsports Park (Beckley, West Virginia) on Saturday night in the Black Gold 50, which posted a $10,000 top prize. Twenty-eight entries registered for action, and via preliminary action Hawkins earned the eleventh starting spot for the 50 lap finale. Hawkins raced his way to as high as the third spot before a late-race restart shuffled him back to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Zack Dohm, Josh McGuire, and David Watts.
