Upton Motorsports Leads COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Weekend Charge

Mercer, Tennessee (06/19/13) – Upton Motorsports drivers, Kyle Beard & Ashley Newman, currently lead the respective points in the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) as well as the tour's Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year standings and will lead the tour into battle this weekend in Tennessee and Arkansas.

With five events in the books Beard currently holds a ten point advantage in the overall CCSDS standings, and Newman has a dominant lead in the Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year standings. The drivers will lead their fellow competitors into battle this weekend with a pair of $2,000-to-win event events. Action begins on Friday night at Camden Speedway (Camden, Tennessee) before moving to Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) on Saturday evening. Last weekend was a successful time for both team drivers. On Friday night Ashley took part in a Weekly Racing Series Event in his #73 Upton Motorsports/Pierce Crate Late Model at the recently reopened Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tennessee. He raced his way to a third place finish in the feature.

Ashley traveled to Camden Speedway (Camden, Tennessee) on Saturday evening for another Weekly Racing Series Event in his Crate Late Model entry and came away with his second victory of the season! Newman started his night by racing from the sixth starting spot to a fourth place finish in his heat race, which positioned him starting fourth in the feature. In the main event he worked his way forward to claim the victory over Tait Davenport, Stephen Austin, Bronson Berry, and Adam Ray. Kyle Beard and Upton Motorsports entered the opening round of a doubleheader with the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) tour on Friday night at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). Twenty-three entries took to the 1/4 mile oval, and after advancing from the fourth to second spot in his heat Kyle started fourth in the feature, and with passing being difficult would go on to finish in fourth behind race winner, Rob Litton, Scott Hebert, and Kevin Sitton.

Saturday evening found the winner's check increased to $2,500-to-win for the 50 lap affair as twenty-seven Super Late Models filled the pit area. Preliminary action found Beard starting fourteenth on the grid for the feature, and he would race around mid-pack for much of the event before ultimately retiring to a seventeenth place finish.
