Scarbrough holds the tie-breaker advantage over Mackmer with two wins this season, while Mackmer is still looking for his first victory.

A tie at the top of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings, as the 27-week season nears the halfway point, is just a taste of what’s to come in the second half. The season consists of two hills, and it starts at the top of the first hill. Competitors go downhill and reach the bottom of the first hill at the halfway point, or Week 14.

The second half of the season is an uphill climb to the top of the second hill. The muscle used to determine who has the best chance to climb the hill faster is called the Weekly Point Average, or WPA. As drivers in the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings reach the 14 week threshold, drivers behind them in the standings will be still be earning full points until they hit the 14 week mark.

The WPA is calculated by taking a driver’s point total up to their 14th week of competition divided by 14, or the number weeks they have competed prior to their 14th week. Once a driver reaches their 15th week of competition, they will begin to net points by replacing the lowest weekly point total among their top 14 with a higher one. A perfect WPA is 50.

Scarbrough has a WPA of 43.82 after eight weeks of competition and Mackmer has a WPA of 40.17 after 12 weeks of competition, which are not in the Top 10 WPAs among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series.

While Mackmer is at the top of the point standings after the first 12 weeks of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, is WPA is the lowest in the Top 20. His point total reflects that he is the only driver that has competed in all 12 weeks of competition.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 477 points, and he has the fifth-highest WPA at 47.7 after ten weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the standings with 435 points, and the third-highest WPA among the Top 20 at 48.33 after nine weeks of competition.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fifth with 428 points and the sixth-highest WPA with a 47.56 after nine weeks of competition. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 405 points, but ranks 19th in the Top 20 WPAs at 40.5 after ten weeks of competition.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is a driver to watch in the coming weeks. Even though Dudley is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 398 points, he has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 49.75 after eight weeks of competition.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN and T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 393 points apiece. Waggoner has the tie-breaker advantage with five wins this season, while Hays is still looking for his first win.

Waggoner is another driver to watch in the coming weeks, as he has the second-highest WPA at 49.13 after eight weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition. Hays has a WPA of 43.67 after nine weeks of competition.

Pat Wall of Columbus, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 391 points, and a WPA of 43.44 after nine weeks of competition.

There are several drivers in the second ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings that will be worth watching in the coming weeks, as five of the Top 10 drivers on the WPA list are holding the 11th through 15th spots in the point standings, and each driver has eight weeks of competition.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is 11th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 385 points, but he has the fourth-highest WPA at 48.12.
