Lee, Payne, Coffman, and Sullivan Top Performers at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-June 21, 2013- The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models would race for $1,500 to win on Friday evening at Ponderosa Speedway and Victor Lee of Danville, KY would score the victory in the 30 lap main event. The Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds would race for $800 (which will now be their weekly to win amount) and Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY would pick up the checkered flag. Other feature event winners for the evening included Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models and Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman.

Victor Lee and Jeff Watson would duel side-by-side for the lead on the opening lap of the 30 lap Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event before Lee would assume control on lap 2 and begin to pull away from the pack. The event would be slowed by one caution in the early portion of the race, but Lee would again pull away from the pack and would have almost a half-track lead at the drop of the checkered flag aboard the Kevin Ison owned JAACO Mining Equipment/Xtreme Style Signs Graphics and Screenprinting/Jay Construction and Restoration/Quality Auto and Truck Repair/ Hatcher’s Auto Sales/French Homes/Wild Cody’s Gun and Ammo/Fire Department Service and Supply/Schaeffer Racing Oil/American Racer Tire sponsored #4 Revelution Chassis powered by a Day’s Racing Engine. Watson would take runner-up honors, while Tim Tungate would finish third in his appearance at the track this season. Mike Jewell would roll home fourth after challenging Tungate for third during the early and middle stages of the event, while Johnny Wheeler would complete the top five. Nine entries saw Jewell be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 13.828 seconds, while Watson would win the Country 100.9 MIKE FM heat.

Jimmy Payne would outduel Michael England for the lead in the early stages of the 20 lap Bluegrass Drug Store Modified main event and survive four caution flags to grab the victory in the seat of the Richard Harlow owned Maximum Energy Development/Barren River Pest Control/Paintless Dent Repair/Diamond Auto Collision/Young’s Barber Shop sponsored #K1 Bandit Race Car powered by a Niebel Race Engine. Benji Lee would take second position at the finish, while J.T. Ayers would turn in a strong performance with a third place effort, with Elliott Despain nipping Brent Denny at the finish for fourth. Twelve entries would see Lee be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 14.950 seconds, while Inter County Energy heat race wins fell to Michael England and Payne.

Todd Coffman would only be slowed by a caution flag with six laps remaining in route to claiming his fifth Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Model feature victory of the season driving the Sharon Coffman owned Premier Self Storage/Auto Connection/Muffler Shop/All Star Racewear/Spears Construction/Coffman’s Photography/Archie’s Tire Center/Harrod Farms/Todd’s Body Shop/Wilson Equipment sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis powered by a GM604 engine. Jake Henry would take runner-up honors, while rookie driver Chris Fair would claim a third place finish. Gary Yeager and Cole Bland would complete the top five after a last-lap tangle between the duo. Seven entries would see Coffman as the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 13.994 seconds, with Coffman also winning the Colston Paving heat.

Donnie Sullivan would survive a two-lap at the conclusion of the D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman main event to claim his third feature victory of the season behind the wheel of the D&D Pallet Recyclers/Simple Sign and Decal/Crown Cuts of Stanford/Patriot Sports sponsored #1 Chevrolet Camaro powered by an Estes Race Engine. Jeremy Howard would finish a close second after pressuring Sullivan for the lead at the conclusion of the event, with Pat Hagan claiming third. The remainder of the top five would be Glen Branham and Eddie Stewart. Ten entries saw Glen Hounshell, Jr. be the Bob Allen Motor Mall top qualifier at 16.256 seconds, with Northside RV heat wins going to Hounshell, Jr. and Sullivan.
