Does front spring rate have any influence on forward drive?

Well I guess I had that coming the way I asked this question. Does a stiffer front spring help fwd drive?

a stiffer lf spring will tighten corner entry off throttle and has little effect on exit to an extent. a stiffer rf spring can give you more drive on exit but typically takes more rebound in the shock to control the added spring rate. on a chevelle front clip it is not uncommon to be a 650lf and 700rf if your car is correct. some cars are getting softer on the rf but a softer rf spring usually kills exit traction.

I agree with the majority of what has been said so far. RF spring rate in particular does influence forward drive in most cases. There are times when cars seem to come out of the corner better on really soft RF springs, but this is often because the track condition warrants a setup that turns better through the middle, and softening the RF does this.

As far as what rate is right for what car...well, that depends. A car with motor 2" left of center will likely run a good deal softer RF spring than a car with motor the same distance right of center.

we've been running a 550 lf and 450 rf spring on our 2011 tre mod with success. car is great up to middle of corner,if dry it has no drive off corner,if tacky its bad fast, hate to do it but probably gonna try a 600 on rf to put some dynamic wedge into it but hopefully the car still enters and turns good.

Terminology.....Is 'No forward drive" the same as "Loose" on exit?
