Ross Camponovo Wins Pair of CCSDS Events; Firecracker 100 Next

Clarksdale, Mississippi (06/26/13) – Ross Camponovo continued his career season over the weekend with back-to-back wins with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models in his #18 Camponovo Farms/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/RPM Racing Engine Super Late Model to the biggest win of his young career.

Ross Camponovo opened a doubleheader weekend with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models on Friday night at Camden Speedway (Camden, Tennessee), and when the checkered flag dropped on the feature he had claimed his first-ever win with the tour.

Twenty-four Super Late Models registered for battle in the program, and Camponovo started the night by winning his heat race from the second starting spot to lock into the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature, alongside pole sitter, Kyle Beard. As the race went green Camponovo jumped to the lead, and despite several challenges from Beard he led all 35 laps to score the victory. Beard, Robert Baker, Clay Fisher, and Todd Hall rounded out the top five finishers.

With the momentum from Friday night in his corner Ross invaded Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) on Saturday night for another $2,000-to-win, CCSDS event. With twenty-three Super Late Models entered he started his night by blazing to fast time honors to earn the pole position for the first heat race. A win in his heat race locked Camponovo into the pole for the feature event with Jon Kirby starting alongside. As the race went green Ross bolted to the lead and would endure heavy lapped traffic early in the affair, which allowed Jon Kirby to apply heavy pressure for the lead. However, as the race progressed Camponovo was able to stretch his advantage. It appeared that he would be on his way to the easy win, but in the closing laps Ashley Newman mounted a charge and actually grabbed the lead briefly on the white flag lap before Camponovo charged to the win by a matter of feet! The victory was his fourth overall of the 2013 season.

Ross has now taken over the point lead in the CCSDS with a twelve marker advantage over Kyle Beard. Full results from both events and complete series' standings are available at www.COMPDirt.com .

Ross Camponovo will enter his first-ever event this weekend, June 27th-29th, at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) during the 7th Annual Firecracker 100, which will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Models. On Thursday and Friday evening complete shows will be contested, which will be headlined by a $6,000-to-win features with Saturday's program seeing a $30,000-to-win finale.
