Rod Conley Bags Second Victory of 2013 Season; Eyes Doubleheader at Elkins!
(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Rod Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, picked up his second feature win of the 2013 racing season on Saturday night, June 22 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! After timing in ninth quickest during qualifying and winning his heat race, Rod took advantage of leader Jackie Boggs' flat tire late in the A-Main to grab the point. The driver known as "Hot Rod" then led the final three circuits en route to the $2,000 payday. R.J. Conley was right behind his brother in the second position, while father Delmas Conley was not far behind in the fourth spot in the regular weekly show at PRP.
Earlier in the weekend, Delmas brought his famed #71 machine to the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio on Friday evening, June 21 for a weekly $1,500 to win program. Delmas ran second in heat race action and later placed fourth in the A-Main behind only winner Josh McGuire, Freddie Carpenter, and Jason Montgomery. With Delmas and R.J. opting to take the June 28-29 weekend off from racing action, Rod will carry the flag alone for the Conley Motorsports, Inc. team. Rod will take his #71r Rocket Chassis to the Elkins Raceway in Kerens, West Virginia for two big days of competition. Friday night will feature a regular show for the Super Late Models, while the ADRA Series will sanction ‘Twin Topless 25s’ on Saturday evening. A $2,000 top prize will be on the line in the first 25-lapper, while the second 25-lap sprint will be worth $3,000 to the winner.
