CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 14 marks the halfway point of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, and there are 10 races at nine different tracks in six different states on the schedule of events. Not only are the point battles tight among the Top 20 drivers, but so are the Weekly Point Averages.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will present double feature races for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models on Friday night with first feature being a Week 4 make-up race and the second feature being the regularly scheduled Week 14 race.

Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and Penton Raceway in Penton, AL will also host Friday night Week 14 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.

Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will highlight NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 14 Saturday night action with a $1,000-to-win I-20 Challenge Series Race. The I-20 Challenge is a series of races with a separate point fund held in conjunction with races at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will also host NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 14 Saturday night races.

The events on Friday night at Penton Raceway and Saturday night at Talladega Short Track will also be tune-up races for the four-race, four-night NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division “Salute To America Nationals.”

Talladega Short Track will open the “Salute To America Nationals” on Wednesday night with a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race. Race two will be at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on Thursday night, July 4 with a $2,500-to-win 50-lap event. Penton Raceway will present race number three on Friday night, July 5 with a $2,000-to-win 40-lap event.

Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL will host its first-ever NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division event on Saturday night, July 6 with race number four, a 50-lap $2,500-to-win event. The four-race “Salute To America Nationals” will be Rounds 10. 11, 12, and 13 of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS Touring Division season.

Both the point standings and the WPAs are tight at the halfway point of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season. The top three drivers in the point standings are just six points apart, and further down on the points list, just 43 points separate the fifth-place driver from the 20th-place driver. The Top 10 on the WPA are separated by only 2.23 points.

A driver’s best 14 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point totals count towards their 27-week season total. Once a driver reaches the 14th week of competition they begin netting points by replacing the lowest weekly point total among their best 14 with a higher weekly point total. A perfect season point total is 700.

The Weekly Point Average, or WPA, is a driver’s season point total divided by 14, or the number of weeks they have competed in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition up to the 14th week. A perfect WPA is 50.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings by three points over Noah Daspit of Purvis, MS. Scarbrough has 530 points to 527 for Daspit. Scarbrough is carrying a WPA of 44.17 out of possible 50 after competing for 12 weeks. Scarbrough has two more weeks to earn full points.

Daspit has a WPA of 47.91 which is the fifth-highest among the Top 20 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series drivers. Daspit can still earn full points for another three weeks. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the standings with 524 points, a WPA of 40.31, and he can earn full points for one more week.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 477 points and has the sixth-highest WPA at 47.7. Lee can earn full points for another four weeks. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the standings with 450 points, a WPA of 40.91, and he can earn full points for another three weeks.

T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 439 points. Hays has a WPA of 43.9 and can earn full points for another four weeks of competition.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the standings with 438 points, but has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 48.67. Dudley actually took a hit on his WPA from last week, even though he won his seventh series race last Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway.

Dudley’s win was a 40-point win because the car count he competed against was less than eight cars. A win with a car count of eight or more is worth 50 points. Dudley has seven wins in nine weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series competition, and the two races his didn’t win, he finished second. Dudley can earn full points for another five weeks.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN and Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS are tied for the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 435 apiece and are also tied for the second highest WPA at 48.33.

Waggoner will be trying to come back from his worst finish of the season last week with a 9th-place effort, and he can earn full points for another five weeks. Arnold can also earn full points for another five weeks if he can find a ride. Arnold and his car owner parted ways a few weeks ago while Arnold was leading the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 433 points and the fourth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the standings at 48.11. Moore can earn full points for another five weeks.

Behind Moore in the standings, there are four drivers in the second ten that are in the Top 10 of the WPA list. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is 11th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 427 points and the seventh highest WPA at 47.44. Both drivers can earn full points for another five weeks. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is 15th in the standings with 418 points and has the tenth highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers at 46.44. Cooper can earn full points for another five weeks.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
