CARTERSVILLE, GA – With the July 4th Holiday Weekend, Week 15 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series 2013 schedule will see limited action, but there will be six races at five tracks in four different states on the slate with one race on Friday night and five races scheduled for Saturday night.

West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO will be hosting a Friday night-Saturday night double-header for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models with a complete show each night.

Also on the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 15 Saturday night schedule will be races at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Slidell, LA, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS are tied for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point lead, with each driver having 577 points. Daspit has competed in 17 races over 12 weeks and has two more weeks to earn full points. Scarbrough has run 18 races over 13 weeks and has one more week to earn full points.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.

Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one.

Daspit has the third-highest Weekly Point Average, or WPA, among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 48.08. The highest WPA a driver can obtain is 50. Drivers with the highest WPAs during the course of the season can be considered title contenders.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 569 points after 14 weeks of competition. Mackmer will now begin to net points on his best 14 weekly point totals. His lowest weekly point total is a 0, so it will be like he has an extra week to earn full points.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the standings with 528 points after 11 weeks of competition. Lee has the fourth-highest WPA at 48, and he has three more weeks to earn full points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 496 after 12 weeks of racing.

T.J. Hays of Bradford, TN is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 484 points after 11 weeks of competition, but he has a host of drivers right on his heels, including the drivers that are one-two on the WPA list. Just seven points separate sixth through tenth in the point standings.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the standings with 483 points after ten weeks of racing, but has the highest WPA among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings at 48.3. Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN is eighth in the standings with 482 points after ten weeks of racing and the second-highest WPA at 48.2.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 480 points after ten weeks of competition and is tied with Lee for the fourth spot on the WPA list at 48. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the standings with 477 points and the sixth-highest WPA at 47.7.

The seventh through tenth-place drivers on the WPA list are 11th through 14th respectively in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings. Roger Witt of Batesville, AR is 11th in points at 465 after ten weeks of racing and has the seventh-highest WPA at 46.5.

Joey Smith of Pomona, MO and Ronnie Cooper of Atwood, TN are tied for the 12th spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 464 points apiece after ten weeks of competition for both drivers, and are tied for the eighth spot in WPA at 46.4. Owen Stockstill of Purvis, MS is 14th in points at 462 and has the tenth-highest WPA at 46.2 after ten weeks of racing.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
