RACE #7 THUNDER MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY SATURDAY JULY 13TH
Apple Grove, WV. July 2, 2013~The ADRA DirtMasters presented by Suddenlink were parked for the weekend as Mother Nature won out this week at Elkins WV. Torrential downpours postponed the JC Distributing Stars and Stripes Topless 25 and the JC Distributing RH Armstrong Memorial Twin Topless 25’s tentatively until August. Details TBA. The ADRA DirtMasters Challenge series will visit as many as 11 local tracks in 2013 all in WV and OH. The next challenge will be Thunder Mountain Speedway in Hanover, WV Saturday July 13 for the “Mountain State 30” paying $2000 to win and $300 to start. This is the 7th scheduled challenge for the series as challenges 4, 5, and 6 will be made up in August. Thunder Mountain Speedway is a newly renovated 4/10ths mile high banked clay oval nestled in the heart of WV’s coal country. Track owner Heath Ellis replaced or rebuilt nearly everything on site as well as added to the facility formerly known as the “Hatfield and McCoy Speedway”. Thunder Mountain Speedway has become one of the region’s most up to date and fan friendly tracks. (www.racethundermountain.com)
“We are excited to make this inaugural trip to Thunder Mountain,” explained Race Director, Don Mercer. “This will be a special treat for the TMS fans that don’t see super late models on a weekly basis. We are looking forward to an awesome crowd and a great show.”
2012 ADRA Champ, “Hot Rod” Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH will lead the DirtMasters Challenge coming into this event. Conley took his familiar #71 Draime powered Rocket to victory lane at Jackson County Speedway backed that up with a 6th at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH and a 4th at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH. Bryan Casey of Coshocton, OH in the #25 Racers In Christ Lazer chassis holds the 2nd spot. Casey is new to the ADRA and will be running the entire challenge series. “Lil John” Whitney Jr. of Clarksville, OH in the 33B “Steel Block” powered Mastersbilt holds 3rd. Whitney posted 2nd and 3rd place finishes at Moler and Jackson this year against some of the best in the region. Chad Barr of Wellston OH in the #5B GRT chassis is in 4th place. “Insane Duane” Chamberlain of Richmond Indiana in the #20c Dargie powered Rocket chassis rounds out the top 5. Rod Conley, Doug Drown, and Duane Chamberlain have posted wins in the 2013 ADRA DirtMasters Challenge Series. We have had 3 completed events with 3 different winners so far in 2013 continuing our trend from 2012 where we had 8 different winners in 9 completed events. Series past champions include “The Salt Rock Express” Eddie Carrier Jr. in 2011 and “Hot Rod” Rod Conley in 2012. Conley was 2nd in 2011 and won the 1st ADRA event ever in 2011 at Moler Raceway Park. The Racer In Christ will be heading to Hanover with the ADRA as our “Official Ministry”. Tony Dillow, our series Chaplain, will be on hand along with his brother Jesse Dillow and crew to hand out Bibles and offer spiritual inspiration to anyone in need. The ADRA DirtMasters Mid-Season Championship will be Friday July 19th and Saturday 20th at Elkins Raceway paying $5000 to win $300 to start on Friday night and $10,000 to win $500 to start on Saturday!
