Pre info chevelle stub, 4bar. 650lf 600rf 200lr 175rr. 9/2lr shock 2/4rr 5/3lf 3/5rf. 52% left 57.5rear 35 lr bite. j bar 6" up at frame down a hole at pinion. 1 inch of stagger. Regardless of what I try, I am loose in the center and off starts loose coasting the center and gets much worse back to the throttle. Turns in good. I have had the bars in every hole combination possible. currently lt bar 4-5 hole up lb bar 2-3 hole up. rt 3-4 hole up rb all the way down. I have had up to 150 pounds of bite and have shortened the right wheel base three turns. 20 lbs of ballast above right rear tire. I would greatly appreciate any help or ideas you might have.

Are you sure entry is good? Where are the breaks set? If the rf is shutoff and/or the brakes are dialed mostly in the rear I would bet entry is actually too tight and the driver is breaking the tires loose on entry to turn the car.

Confused?

Is it loose before or after picking up the throttle? Before, lower J-bar on the pinion. After, more throttle control. Lower the throttle linkage on the pedal to slow it down some.

Pull bar or lift bar? Where is the rearend, right to left in the chassis? Air pressures, tires?

How much rake is that in jbar, have you tried less rake? You have a brake floater on lr? If your track is smooth, put you a straight bar on it if rules allow.

bump your rf spring up 50 and would switch the rears the other way

Thank you all, entry is good brakes are slightly to the rear about 20 more pounds on the pressure gage. Not allowed to shut off RF brake. Loose before throttle but not as bad gets worse with throttle application, pull bar with yellow bushings. Not certain on rear end side to side alignment will need to check it again. I will move the throttle for sure. Hoosiers 12 on the rights 14 left front 8 left rear. I have tried moving the j bar but only doing both ends not just one side I will try that. Yes on left rear brake floater one hole higher that lT bar, no straight bar allowed. I will try the spring swaps in the rear I am a little afraid to go up on the rf I think that might make entry to loose, but certain having nothing to loose trying that. Track was very rough and super, super dry.

Thanks again

try 225LR 200RR , LR7-2 shock , LRb in bottom hole , LRt in middle , RRt in bottom hole. Sounds like a Shaw or BMS , they have short rear rods and usually don't like alot of angle. Also less LF and RR air for slick. 50 lbs stiffer on both fronts should also help.

what about your gear, something else to think about...were on 650's across front, 200 lr, 225 rr and about 60-80 bite w/o driver...

You are exactly right it is a BMS, I will try the stiffer springs and bar changes for sure. I do tend to run a bit lower gear than some, 5:83 on 3/8 mile. I will drop those pressures as well. Thanks. I will let you know how it goes for sure.

Agree with dirtracr33 on gear . Gear depends on HP , more HP less gear , on1/3 mile small motor ( 390 ) 5.67 to 5.45 , big motor (415 ) 5.45 to 5.05. These are just what we did , every driver is different. Also my suggestion on LR shock , that 9-2 on a rough track is probably bounclng you around 7-2 is a little calmer , you may even want a straight 4/4 .

We don't have IMCA in my area so I haven't worked with those tires. Everything here is open.

I will flip the rear springs around, I do have a 6/2 and 4/4 shock I can try. I will go down to 5:67's and give it a whirl..

I went to a 175 L&R spring a 6/2 left rear shock and increased wedge by 20 lbs and went to the higher gear. I only got to run about 4 laps and lost the transmission, but it felt much better while it ran. Back at it this Saturday. Hope to get a better idea then.

i always had the same problem with my 09 shaw car. i did everything you have done, everything under the sun i could think of. if its like mine, the rr bars are picking the car up to fast. replace the rrb bar with a 1 inch longer bar. if you dont have a hole in the 4 link brackets, drill one. it made my car tighter all the way through the corner so i had to start loosening up entry. but i had a ton more side bite and drive off the corner

The car was much better, a bit loose in now. Shortened the right wheel base two turns and that helped some as well. Thanks for all the help I guess its time to just learn to really slow down on the throttle. Might try a stiffer spring on the RF but don't want to make it any looser in.

Thanks for the help and ideas
