CARTERSVILLE, GA – Point leader Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS continued his winning ways on Saturday night when he picked up his series-leading tenth NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model victory of the season at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving “Noah’s Ark,” the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star.

With the 50-point win, Daspit was able to net 14 points on his best 14-week total and bring his season total to 687 points. Daspit has ten wins and a series-leading 19 top five finishes in 21 races. Daspit now holds a 42-point lead over Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS in the battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship.

Scarbrough has 645 points after he drove the Villa South Trak-Star to a fifth-place finish Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway to net five points on his best 14-week total. Scarbrough has two wins, nine top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 23 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.

Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 17 action, but remains third in the standings with 612 points making up his best 14-week total after five top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 21 events driving the Mackmer Home Buyers Special.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 601 points after three wins, 18 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 21 races over 13 weeks. Lee was unable to start the feature race on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway, but received 25 show up points. Lee still has one more week to earn full points.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS reached the 14-week mark of his season with a second-place finish on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS driving the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star. That brought Jordan’s point total to 594 and the fifth spot in the standings after seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 17 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series races.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS also reached the 14-week mark of his season on Saturday night with a fifth-place finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star to move up to the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings. Sanchagrin has two top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 18 races.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 578 points after driving the Zaxby’s Rocket to a fourth-place finish on Thursday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL. Dudley has seven wins, 12 top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks with two more weeks to earn full points.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 575 points after one win, 13 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 16 events over 12 weeks driving the Custom Race Cars Trak-Star. Moore did not compete in Week 17 action, but still has two more weeks to earn full points.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Greenville, MS took his fifth win of the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway driving the MP Trucking Trak-Star. That moved Palasini up to the ninth spot in the standings with 568 points after five wins and nine top five finishes in 13 starts over 12 weeks, with two more weeks to earn full points.

Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 562 points after nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks in the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket. Cooper did not compete in Week 17 action, but still has two weeks to earn full points.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action, William Thomas of Phenix City, AL was the winner at East Alabama Motor Speedway on Thursday night driving the J.W. Miller Land and Timber GRT,

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL drove the Edge’s Gas Company Special to his second NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL. It was a special win for Edge, as he dedicated the victory to 13-year-old Kyle Abernathy, who passed away on Friday morning after a four-year battle with cancer. Edge drove into Victory Lane with “Team Kyle” emblazoned on the hood of his race car.

Cody Smith of Holt, FL took his third NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the Smith’s Performance Rocket, and Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL topped a 35-car field to grab his first win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the Summit Resource Development GRT.

Four races on the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 17 schedule were rained out. Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS washed out on Friday night, while Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were rained out on Saturday night.

Two-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge after Daspit and Palasini gave them their 31st and 32nd wins of the season.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV and the defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR are tied for the second spot with 18 wins apiece. Smith’s win gave Rocket Chassis their 18th win of the season, and wins by Thomas and Shaw gave GRT Race Cars their 17th and 18th wins of the season.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth with six wins. Also participating in the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and still looking for their first wins are Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN, TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, and CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN.
