Thoughts on this tire? Working on a car with 4 of them. I'm thinking new shop seats and we are on an open tire rule. Track never goes much past tacky even for feature at work it starts to transition to slight dust. I'm thinking Hoosier 1100lf 1323 on other corners maybe 1350 RR. Most the guys are on the AR23 spec because they all use the same guy, but I don't like the Chain link and want opinions on it

Your post makes no sense. You say it never goes past tacky but guys are using 1350 RR'S. So which is it?

My guy Is on (4) chain link AR23. I want opinions on that tire, is one item. We also have an open tire rule. If I switch to an open tire I'm thinking 1100 LF 1325 on the other corners to be safe and maybe a 1350 if it starts to dry out so far this year it at most starts to go dusty but we are in a hot part of summer and probably won't have the rain from here on out like we have had. What would you run, and what do you think of a chain link tread, junk?

1300 is a good tire if there is no black on the surface.

I have limited experience with open comp but we barely wear the tabs off a new set of 23's so will a 1300 be to hard, will i see alot of gain from a spec to an open?

If you want to run Hoosiers put on 4 1200's an maybe a 1300 rr if the track gets spittle dry but if the 23's ain't going away your going to be harder than they are. If you Stick with the ar's the only thing j would change is put a regular block pattern LR on k never have liked a chain link LR. Also if you stick with the chainlink run them ungrooved if the track stays tacky. Overall i believe Hoosier has a better soft tire an AR has a better hard tire for most places. A AR 44 is my favorite tire they seem to work in any condition an will work till all the rubbers gone an your running on the cords

Have you checked your lap times throughout the race, the 23's don't like much heat so if your running them a whole race chances are there going away. If your lap times are dropping off after a few laps your going to be better off on 33's or 1200's. Both of them will fire about like a 23 an still take heat better.

We aren't even wearing the teets (you know what I mean :) ) off the 23's in hot laps and barely rolling the edges in a feature BUT it could be because this is definitely a forward drive bowl shaped track and we can't get any forward drive with them thats why I'm thinking a crossblock tire is the way to go. If 23's are right could I run a 1100?

Just curious, do you not grind your new tires?

Personally I do, the guy I'm helping hasn't gotten that far along in his week to week stuff yet. I've just noticed overall when he went from cross block 23's to this chain link he's struggled more in forward drive. Whatever he has this week I'm taking a grinder too :) they say the chainlink is a sidebite tire seems like it just sacrifices drive

We don't groove our soft chainlink tires be because on a soft tacky track your running off the tread an not the edges we've done some testing for AR an non grooved was always faster on 33 an softer but i supose if the track is looseit maybe best to run a pregrooved block tread or just groove the chainlink tire to try it an see how it does but if you groove the chainlink go every 3 or 4 rows an groove with a wide blade to keep from having to many edges building heat

Yeah we actually just discussed this morning grooving the Chain with a #4. I don't have time to get the 1100 and 1200s and grind and groove and sipe them

I wasn't suggesting grooving or sipping the new tire, just notice that you were saying it wasn't even wearing the teats off. I have always used the grinder on a new tire, very lightly, to get rid of the releasing powder used in manufacturing. Just did two tires for this weekend and what a difference on how tacky the one that I had ground and the one that still needed to be ground.

Don't waste ur time with anything other than the 1100s! I'm pretty sure ur talking about Clarys and iv run a lot of tire combos and the 1100 is now better and softer than the 23s unlike in the past. U may go to 1200 on the RR worst case. But I still half tread on my 1100 RR after a 30 and 60 lap feature... Clarys is a non abrasive surface and the top constantly blows off.

23's are kinda funny they work good when new, but don't like heat and they don't like many heat cycles. They just give up way before they are worn out. Run a 33 or 38 and you will be much better off. As mentioned AR's 44's and up just keep working till there is nothing left. Many races have been won on the AR Chain link tires.

Yeah 1100 and 1200s on the way. I don't think I'm going to groove or sipe them looks like they might chunk. Just going to grind them and fix the broken parts from this week lol

The 1100 needs no work what so ever just mount and race. I have never ground an 1100 or a 23.
