CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 18 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series 2013 season will feature nine races in five different states with one race on Friday night, and eight races on the schedule for Saturday night. Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS holds a 42-point lead over Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS in the battle for the $10,000 National Championship.

Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS will open Week 18 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series on Friday night. Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will highlight Saturday night competition with a $1,000-to-win event, the second round of the Villa South Assisted Living Summer Shootout Series.

Other Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 18 events will be held at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Daspit has a best 14 week point total of 687 and has the highest Weekly Point Average among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series point standings at 49.07 out of a possible 50. Daspit will be trying to net on a 46, or a finish higher than fifth, in the Week 18 competition.

Scarbrough has a best 14 week point total of 645, and he will be trying to net on a 41. Derrick Mackmer of Purvis, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 612 points as his best 14 week point total is 612 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41 in Week 18 action.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 601 points, has the ninth highest WPA at 46.23, and has one more week to earn full points. Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week point total of 594, and will be trying to net on a 25.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.

Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one. The Weekly Point Average is the average of their 14-week total, or up to the 14-week mark. A perfect point total is 700, and a perfect WPA is 50.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week point total of 583, and will be trying to net on a 25. Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL is seventh in the standings with 578 points, he has the third highest WPA at 48.17, and has two more weeks to earn full points.

Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is eighth in the standings with 575 points, he has the fourth highest WPA at 47.92, and he has two more weeks to earn full points. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 568 points, he has the fifth highest WPA at 47.33, and he has two more weeks to earn full points,

Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 562 points, he has the sixth highest WPA at 46.83, and he has two more weeks to earn full points. There are four drivers in the second ten of the point standings that are in the top ten on the WPA list.

Ricky Waggoner of Martin, TN is 15th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 532 points, but he has the second highest WPA among the Top 20 point drivers at 48.31, and he has three more weeks to earn full points. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is 17th in the standings with 510 points, he has the seventh highest WPA at 46.36, and he has three more weeks to earn full points.

Roger Witt of Batesville, AR is 11th in the standings with 556 points, he has the eighth highest WPA at 46.33, and he has two more weeks to earn full points. Joey Smith of Pomona, MO is 12th in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with 554 points, he has the tenth highest WPA at 46.17, and he has two more weeks to earn full points.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
