Tungate Takes Hardgrove Memorial Tune-Up at Lake Cumberland Speedway
Burnside, KY-July 27, 2013- Lake Cumberland Speedway presented the Harold Hardgrove Memorial Tune-Up on Saturday evening and Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY picked up the victory in the Super Late Model main event. Other feature winners included Matthew Jordan of Lancaster, KY in Modifieds and Doyle Hibbard won the Sportsman/Road Hogs.
The win by Tungate was his fourth Super Late Model victory of the year at Lake Cumberland Speedway and guaranteed him a starting spot of no worse than sixth in the 5th Annual Harold Hardgrove Memorial on Saturday August 3. Tungate’s victory would come aboard the J&L Motorsports owned Wilson Plumbing/Dale Petty Well Service/ Murphy’s Oil and Well Service/Brown’s Blacktop Sealing and Striping/Brown’s Tire Service/Barnes Auto Sales/Sexton’s Logging and Trucking sponsored #18 C.J. Rayburn Race Car with a Dale Meers Race Engine. Fellow Campbellsville native Johnny Wheeler would take runner-up honors, with Rod Carter, Jr., Ricky Arms, and Dennis Barton completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Steve Elliott, Greg Hansford, Eric Centers, John Kidwell, and Clint Vaughn.
Matthew Jordan would score his first career Modified feature event victory by taking the feature checkered flag in the open-wheel division in his Lightning Chassis, Niebel Race Engines powered #17J mount. Ryan Jones would score a second place effort, while Tim Patrick would finish third. Tommy Gregory and Brian Clements would complete the running order.
Doyle Hibbard would take the win in the Sportsman/Road Hog division over Joe Barnett and Sara Patrick.
