William Thomas Goes Two-for-Two Over the Weekend

Phenix City, Alabama (07/29/13) - It was an amazing weekend for William Thomas he won back-to-back Super Late Model features in his #A19 Alexander Industrial Services/GRT Super Late Model and his new CT525 engine.

Action opened on Saturday evening at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) in the 16th Annual Michael Head Jr. Memorial at the 3/8 mile oval. Twenty-six entries took part in the Southern All Star (SAS) sanctioned program, and William started his evening by locking into the 3rd starting spot for the feature via time trials. Thomas would lurk in the top five throughout the event, but he waited until the closing laps of the 40 lap feature to make his move as he set his sights on the leader, Jason Hiett. After pressuring Hiett for the top spot William would eventually make the winning pass as the lead duo were prepared to take the white flag, and Thomas would hold off Hiett for the race victory. The win marked his third career with the series as William debuted his new CT525 engine. Full results from the program are available at www.SASDirt.com .

Thomas carried his momentum into Sunday evening at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) in a make-up event for the Schaeffer's Southern Nationals. The $5,300-to-win race attracted 28 entries to the 4/10 mile oval, and via preliminary action Thomas locked into a starting spot on the second row of the feature. In the main event he quickly worked his way forward and went on to power to his second career Southern Nationals victory as well as his fourth win overall of the 2013 season. Vic Hill, Ivedent Lloyd, Jason Hiett, and Dennis Franklin rounded out the top five finishers. Full results from the program are available at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com.

"If you had told me on Saturday that we would win both events that we entered with the new CT525 motor I would’ve probably told you that you were a liar," laughed Thomas. "It was really an incredible weekend for our team."

This weekend, August 2nd-3rd, Thomas will further test the limits of his new CT525 power plant as he participates in the inaugural events for the new Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series at Penton Raceway (Penton, Alabama) on Friday night before moving onto East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) on Saturday evening.
