William Thomas Sweeps Chevrolet Performance Series Debut

Phenix City, Alabama (08/07/13) - William Thomas enjoyed another incredible weekend in his #A19 Alexander Industrial Services/GRT Super Late Model as he swept both of the inaugural events for the newly-formed Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series.

On Friday night a $3,000-to-win race was contested at Penton Raceway (Penton, Alabama), where 18 entries signed in for action. Thomas started his night by registering the fastest time in qualifications to earn the pole position for the feature with Ronnie Johnson joining him on the front row. As the race went green Thomas shot to the lead, and despite a few close calls with lapped cars William went on to score the win over Johnson, Chase Edge, Tim Busha, and David Brannon.

Saturday night found the action shifting to Thomas' home track, East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama). With the 5th fastest qualifying lap of the night William started 5th in the 50 lap feature and would work his way into the 2nd spot as the race progressed. He stalked leader, Tim Busha, until lap 43 when Busha headed pitside with a flat tire. Thomas inherited the lead and led the last seven laps to claim the win over Richie Stephens, Chase Edge, Ronnie Johnson, and Brent Barrett. The victory was his fourth in a row and his sixth overall on the season.

"It's almost how well things are going for our team right now," an elated Thomas commented. "To win four races straight is just a really big deal for us, and we can't wait to get to the next race!"

Thomas leads the series standings by 12 points over Ronnie Johnson.
