JACOB HAWKINS WINS ADRA DIRTMASTERS CHALLENGE #7 AT OVS!

Apple Grove, WV. August 4, 2013~ Jacob Hawkins hawked a win out of the clutches of both Tim Dohm and Steve Lucas in one of the most exciting races in the history of the ADRA. There was side by side action and multiple passing going on from the front of the pack all the way to the back. The ADRA DirtMasters presented by Suddenlink and the AMRA Kryptonite Race Cars Late Models brought the house down Saturday night at the Ohio Valley Speedway in Lubeck, WV. Dark clouds threatened early on but Mother Nature stepped aside and the Masters and Krypts brought their own perfect storm! It was obvious in even in qualifying that the night was going to be bad fast in every class. www.suddenlink.com

“I have literally been to races from Florida all the way to Oregon and the racing at the Ohio Valley Speedway Saturday night was unequivocally 2nd to none, no exceptions!” proclaimed ADRA Competition Coordinator Rocky Estep. “I have paid big money to see races not even close to the action the Ohio Valley Speedway, the ADRA drivers, and the AMRA drivers brought: A shining example of preparation and opportunity coming together. When that many people work together for a common goal, it isn’t luck; its destiny.”

Tim Dohm would set fast time and win the QuickTime Fast Time Award with a 15:58. Dohm would go on to win the ADRA Super 6 Dash and start on the pole of the feature. Check out the names in the dash;

Super 6 Dash -Tim Dohm, Chris Garnes, Rick Williams, Jacob Hawkins, Dan Morrison, and 6th Bob Adams Jr.

How could the racing not be awesome? That’s not all either there were 3 more heats and 2 consys. The Top 5 of each heat are listed below. Only 2 transferred from each heat. The top 5 of the consys are also listed. 3 Transferred from the consys. 2 Provisionals were available. Complete results can be seen at www.adraracing.net. under results. 29 drivers entered the event. 20 started the feature.

1st Heat- Steve Lucas, Andy Bond, Colten Burdette, Jeremy Blake, and James Joy.

2nd Heat- Ronnie Mayle, Harold Redman Jr., Jeremy Misel, Mike Foggin, and Tom Hendrix.

3rd Heat- KC Burdette, Freddie Carpenter, Bryan Casey, Vince Toler, and Adam Miller.

Consy #1- Bryan Casey, Colton Burdette, Mike Foggin, Eric Francis, and J R Weekley.

Consy #2- Jeremy Misel, Jeremy Blake, Vince Toler, George Klintworth, and Tanner Hendrix

Dohm would lead the 1st fury of laps in the Kryptonite Race Cars 30 with a passel of speed hounds on his tail. Imagine looking back in the corner and seeing Garnes, Lucas, Hawkins, Bond, Redman Jr, Morrison, Mayle, Burdette, Casey, Williams within the same set of turns. That’s the way it was for whoever the leader was from lap to lap. No position was secure from one lap to another. Dohm, Lucas, and Hawkins would all take turns in the lead but the youngster Jacob Hawkins, only 23 years old, would lead the last one and that’s the one that paid $2000 to the winner. Even more satisfying, this win earns bragging rights as the winner of the inaugural AMRA/ADRA OVS Summer Challenge Championship: A title that carries instant clout in the Ohio Valley region. People are already talking about next year’s bout.

The top 5 of the feature was settled on the last lap as passing was taking place all through the field. In fact, there was a 2 way tie for the Dominator Performance Products Hard Charger Award. Mike Foggin and Tom Hendrix tied with both drivers having moved up 6 hard fought positions. Steve Lucas and KC Burdette were right behind them moving up 5 positions each. Some of those spots they had to take more than once as positions were being swapped nearly every lap. The thought came to me as I watched that the Super Late Model class has become a jumbo sized version of the Sprint cars capable of darting, diving and even doing a Sprint styled slide job with refined precision.

Your top 5 came in like this; Jacob Hawkins, Steve Lucas, Tim Dohm, KC Burdette, and Chris Garnes. All are past winners at OVS. That might be called a Smucker’s field. With names like that it had to be good! All that attended will attest to the fact that it was a top notch show all the way around, drivers, track, AMRA, and ADRA as well. Most of all the awesome fans made the whole night possible! Thank you each and every one and God bless you and yours. The ADRA is looking forward to our next visit to Ohio Valley Speedway. www.ohiovalleyspeedway.com

The ADRA DirtMasters presented but Suddenlink points also saw some changes as the numbers grow for the series. 110 different drivers have competed with the ADRA so far in 2013 in only 7 completed races to date. A regional series like the ADRA of course brings some stars with us but just as importantly we make stars or perhaps expose stars in a better way to word it. By promoting our drivers they receive the exposure they deserve and folks start to learn their names and look for them at their local tracks. When there is a special event at their track they almost expect to see some of these guys and gals once they begin to follow their careers. Some will even go as far as to begin to travel to all their new-found favorite driver’s events. That is how the ADRA helps our tracks and drivers by introducing drivers, tracks and/or promoters, and promoting their events. Most folks would be surprised how few people know they race or even know there is a dirt track within minutes of their homes. The ADRA plants seeds that make our sport grow through promotion and affordability. WE MAKE DIRT FLY!

The ADRA would like to extend a special thanks to the Racers In Christ Ministry. Tony Dillow and Jesse Dillow our series Chaplains conducted a trackside service before the event and passed out free Bibles to folks all evening. The RIC has been with the ADRA since our inception and have spread the good news of Jesus Christ everywhere we’ve gone. To learn more about the RIC and check out their schedule for the Racers In Christ #25 Lazer driven by Bryan Casey who also leads the ADRA DirtMasters Challenge Series point race, go to www.racersinchrist.com

The ADRA DirtMasters would also like to thank Freddie Carpenter and Kryptonite Race Cars for sponsoring this event. We would also like to thank the AMRA for slinging dirt with us. We look forward to working together in the future. www.amramodified.com Thanks to the Ohio Valley Speedway for making us feel so welcome. We greatly appreciate the hospitality and all the hard work Wayne McPeek and his crew obviously put into their facility. OVS is top notch in this region and any other and we’ve seen a bunch of them.
