Scott James Readies for North/South 100 in Guest Ride Following Split with Warrior

(BRIGHT, INDIANA) After sitting idle for the entire month of July, Scott James and the Warrior House Car team trekked north to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin for the 26th edition of the ‘USA Nationals.’ Scott unfortunately narrowly missed out on a transfer spot into Thursday’s (August 1) $6,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series weekend opener. To add insult to injury, the team found terminal problems underneath the hood of the #1G on Friday afternoon, which forced them to skip the $50,000 to win ‘USA Nationals’ headliner.

Upon their arrival back home from the disappointing trip to the Badger State, it was decided by both parties involved to make an amicable split. Citing a lack of financial resources, the Warrior House Car has been grounded for the time being and Scott has turned his focus to finding a seat for some of the bigger Dirt Late Model events left on the 2013 schedule. The Bright, Indiana driver has secured a ride to drive Jason Smith’s Barry Wright Race Car during the $50,000 to win ‘North/South 100’ on August 9-10 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky!

“First off, I would like to thank Sanford Goddard and everyone at Warrior Race Cars for giving me the opportunity to drive their House Car for the last six months,” quoted James today via telephone. “We started off the year strong in Georgia and Florida during Speedweeks, had some good runs on the World of Outlaws tour, and won the Spring 50 at Florence. I had a lot of fun racing with those guys, but in the end - it all comes down to money. We just didn’t have the finances to keep racing on a national level, so the decision was made this week to dissolve our partnership.”

The popular driver known as the “Silver Shark” will be back behind the wheel of a #83 car for this weekend’s 31st Annual ‘North/South 100’ at Florence. Scott has teamed up with Jason Smith Racing for the crown jewel event, which boasts a hefty $50,000 top prize. Jason, who resides in Seymour, Indiana, fields a Barry Wright Race Car and has veteran Dirt Late Model crew chief Kyle Ault turning the wrenches. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying and a fast dash will be held on Friday night at the 1/2-mile facility, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lapper will headline the busy weekend on Saturday evening. “I have to thank Jason Smith for allowing me to compete this weekend at Florence in his equipment,” James continued. “He has a really good racecar. (Steve) Francis drove it at Brownstown during the Summer Nationals race and was really fast. Hopefully, we can get the car dialed in this weekend and have a strong performance in the North/South 100!”
