Flinner all Smiles after “Night of Fire” Race #2 Finale at Mercer Raceway Park

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE** August 11th, 2013 FASTRAK PR

(Mercer, Pennsylvania) – The “Nations First & Premier Pro Late Models Series in the Country” – FASTRAK Northeast Touring Division made the final visit at Mercer Raceway Park in Pennsylvania for 2013. The $1,500 to win show closed out the Double Header weekend entitled the “Night of Fire”. A great crowd filed into the 3/8th mile dirt facility owned and operated by Bill Altman and Frank Benic nestled off Highway 19.

In VP Race for the Pole / Randig Towing Qualifying it was #111 of Titusville, Pennsylvania native Max Blair in his Rocket chassis setting quick time with a 17.160 second lap around the 3/8th mile. Randig Towing located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania paid $100 to the driver that set quick time for the 11th FASTRAK Northeast Touring Division event in 2013.

In RockAuto.com Heat #1 it was a dominating performance by #111 Max Blair that led the entire heat race flag to flag with a straightaway lead on second place man #75 Rocket chassis of Allison Park, Pennsylvania native Colton Flinner.

In Hoosier Race Tires Heat Race #2 it was number #21 of Matt Latta taking on all comers to the victory. At the initial start the first 3 laps it was him and #84 Andrew Wylie battling side by side until exiting off turn four Wylie slipped up the track allowing Latta to sneak down to the inside in turn one to take it home the rest of the way. At the checkered flag #135 Jamestown, New York spun solo off turn four.

In HVH – High Velocity Heads Heat Race #3 it was #7w Bobby Whittling and #6 Chad Wright going at it door to door for the first 3 circuits. After halfway in the heat Whittling from Franklin, Pennsylvania washed up the track off turn two getting loose going up to the “top shelf” giving the advantage to the #6 Rocket chassis from Springboro, Pennsylvania Chad Wright to the point and never looking back taking the final heat race of the evening.

At the conclusion of the Heat races the top 2 finishers we’re then in a pill draw for inversion for the Top 6 starting spots. After the Inversion Heat #1 winner Max Blair drew a 6th starting position. Heat #2 winner #21 Matt Latta kept his starting spot from the heat for 2nd and #6 Chad Wright that won Heat #3 drew a 4th starting position. With the 6 car draw it put the #75 Rocket chassis of Colton Flinner to the Pole for the Feature. Also to round out the field #84 Andrew Wylie started 3rd in the feature while #42 Hermitage, Pennsylvania drew a 5th starting spot.

After the inversion and the Mercer Faithful coming to their feet during the “Night of Fire” spectacular pyrotechnics show it was time for the drivers to go it for the start of 25 lap feature and the start of the 11th FASTRAK Northeast Touring Division event of 2013 at Mercer Raceway Park.

The race was wild and ecstatic and it was the driver #75 Colton Flinner able to hold on the entire 25 lap feature to pick up his career FASTRAK Touring Series victory in front of a great crowd on hand at Mercer. He had a few tough charges by Max Blair trying to run him down and it really became interesting as the drivers tried to jockey negotiating through lap traffic but he would not be denied. “I was grinning from “ear to ear” when I exited off turn three knowing I had Blair covered and realizing I was coming for the checkers.” exclaimed Colton Flinner after winning. The 25 lap feature was halted by cautions only three times in the A-main finial visit at the 3/8th mile Mercer Raceway Park.

The first caution would fly on lap #3 in the race when #6p Bob Fifer looped his car around solo off turn three. They quickly got back on the “loud-pedal” for only four circuits when the #135 of Jamie Brown from Jamestown, New York stalled trying to get his machine to the infield. The big wreck of the night happened on the restart when #7s Jeremy Adamwick and #72 Mike Anderson wrecked hard exiting turn one. They both sustained heavy damage the multi car incident blocked the entire track making everyone else get on the binders behind them to avoid impact. From there on the race went all the way to the checkered flag as #75 Rocket chassis would hold off #111 Max Blair by an interval of 1.509 seconds at the margin of victory to the finish line. #21 Matt Latta would have to settle for 3rd. While #6 Chad Wright and #84 Andrew Wylie would battle side by side to round out the Top 5.
