Excitement Builds for $7,500 to win Friday Night Rumble presented by Neat’s Service Center at Ponderosa Speedway August 23

Junction City, KY-August 18, 2013- The countdown has began and the excitement and anticipation is growing as Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and track co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will return to action on Friday August 23 with the 6th Annual Friday Night Rumble presented by Neat’s Service Center which will see the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models race for $7,500 to win, along with a full racing program for Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds and D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”. The Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models will have the night off on August 23.

With the track being off the past two weeks, track officials have busied themselves in preparation for this must-see event and additional seating will be in place in both the general admission and pit areas for this event. This same race was contested in 2012 on this same weekend as the Colston Paving 60 and was won by Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY on an evening that saw 37 Super Late Models, 32 Modifieds, and 17 Sportsman in competition in front of one of the largest spectator crowds in the 40 year history of the storied racing facility. Ricky Arms of Moss, TN won the Modified feature that evening, while Derek Bottoms of Taylorsville, KY won the Sportsman feature that evening.

On Friday August 23, Ponderosa Speedway will present the 6th Annual Friday Night Rumble presented by Neat’s Service Center that will feature the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $7,500 to win and $400 to start in a 60 lap main event. Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds will racing that evening as well for $800 to win and $100 to start in a 20 lap main event, while D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman will race for $300 to win in a 15 lap feature contest, with the Smith Automotive Machine Shop FASTRAK Late Models having the night off. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and may be rented at the track during driver registration and pill draw, which closes at 7:00 p.m. There will be NO entry fee for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models for this event. The Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event will start 22 cars, with the possibility of a 23rd starter if one of the drivers currently in the top five in Super Late Model track points does not race his way into the starting field via a heat race or B-main. All drivers that start a Super Late Model B-Main and do not transfer to the main event will receive $50 tow money.

Local area drivers that have been in contact with the track about the event and have verbally committed to being in attendance at the event include current track points leader Victor Lee of Danville, KY, defending track champion Dustin Linville of Lancaster, KY, Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, David Webb of Nicholasville, KY, Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY (last year’s event winner when it was the Colston Paving 60), Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY, Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY, Jeff Watson of Campbellsville, KY, Tim Tungate of Campbellsville, KY, Timmy Taylor of Harrodsburg, KY, and Chris Ruble of Waco, KY among others. Other regional and national touring drivers that have verbally committed for this event include Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV, 2010 Friday Night Rumble winner Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, Dennis Erb, Jr. of Carpentersville, IL, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Chad Stapleton of Edinburgh, IN, 2013 Red Clay Bash winner Chris Combs of Isom, KY, James Rice of Verona, KY, Stephen Breeding of Isom, KY, Derek Fisher of Olympia, KY, Tommy Bailey of Corbin, KY, Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN, Daniel Williams of West Liberty, KY, and Michael Wright of Isom, KY among others, plus many more drivers are expected. This list does not guarantee the above-mentioned drivers will be in attendance, but is merely a listing of drivers that have been in touch with track officials about coming to race in this event or have it listed on the schedule page of their individual websites.

Activities for the Friday August 23 event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m, while the general admission area opens at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., while practice laps will begin at 7:20 p.m. Bob Allen Motor Mall time trials will begin at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. All times listed are EDT. Ticket prices for the Friday August 23 Friday Night Rumble racing program in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE with a paid adult (this is for the remainder of the season on children ages 12 and under). A pit pass will be $40. There will also be a fireworks show at some point during the evening.
