Engine Placement Question...

I'm installing a non-GM engine in a metric chassis. Since I'm fab'ing my motor mounts from scratch, how high would you mount the engine? Right now I have it about 1 1/2" above the front X-member.

I'm keeping the #1 plug slightly ahead of the crossmember about where the SBC would have been...

Right now I have raised the engine another 1 1/2" and it looks like it will work much better. I only have to massage the firewall a bit to clear the left cylinder head...

If I am correct the chevy crank center line was 8.5 to 9 inchs from the bottom of crossmember. you will want to keep in mind the angle of carb mounting. and if to much angle down in back
the oil under valve covers will pool to back and blow out rear breather and ive seen even starving the fuel pump eccentric of oil. put the oil pan that you will be running so you know it wont be down lower that cross member and level with bottom of frame. good luck
