What is a good "starting point" on chassis corner weights and percentages? Running on a mild bank 1/4 mile dry slick track and am having issues. Our weight rule is 3000lbs. The only way that I can get any rear percentage (49.2%) is to be 250lbs overweight. If I take out any weight then I am closer to 47%. What left side % ? I know this is sort of a general question.

My first thing would be to put the front half of car on a diet. Look and see if there is anything that can be lightened. My metric car is 2800 lb. with driver(280 lbs ) and 125 pounds of lead and 51% rear.

Thanks. The problem is that this is an older car and the main cage is where the weight is. Not a whole lot left from the firewall forward. Motor is setback with ball joint even with #1 plug and aftermarket firewall. I know I can about 10 or so more off of the front. I think that the best I can get with this car is around 47-48% rear. With that being said, how much left side weight and cross weight should I consider to be in the ballpark?

What kind of car , metric , big gm , leaf ? Checkersorwreckers numbers are fine to start , if you don't have alot of HP you can run less rear.

If metric we ran 55 to 56 % left side weight and around 54% cross.

Sorry, its a metric chassis. Running a 408 with a 6.90 final. Just for grins I removed 200lbs of lead from the rear and I ended up with 48% rear, 51%left and 50% cross. With the lead I have 50.6% rear, 52% left and 50.4% cross. Thanks for everyones help!
