Riggs Motorsports Grabs Four Top Five Finishes Over Busy Weekend

(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team had a strong weekend on August 23-25, as both Randy Korte and Jason Riggs combined for a total of four Top Five performances. Randy ran third in his heat race on Saturday night at the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri and later drove past seven competitors in the $5,000 to win 'John Mannlein Memorial' to finish third behind only race winner Jason Feger and runner-up Bobby Pierce. On Sunday evening in a rain-postponed $10,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals showdown at the nearby Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois, Randy claimed a strong fifth place effort behind only victor Shannon Babb, Ryan Unzicker, Bobby Pierce, and Brian Shirley.

Jason started his tripleheader weekend on Friday at the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky with the annual running of the 'USA World 50.' The Harrisburg, Illinois native ran fourth in heat race action and later blitzed past eight cars in the $5,000 to win main event to finish fourth behind only winner Jason Feger, Bobby Pierce, and Tony Jackson, Jr. On Saturday, Jason and his #81jr team traveled to the tiny Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois for the $1,500 to win 'Shrine 50.' Jason timed in fifth quickest in qualifying, ran fourth in his heat race, and later climbed to fifth in the final rundown of the A-Main.

In the weekend finale for Jason on Sunday at Highland, he ran second in his loaded heat race to earn the inside third row starting spot for the $10,000 to win UMP Summer Nationals feature event. Unfortunately, Jason broke something in the rear-end of his Rocket racecar early in the 40-lapper and was forced to retire in the eighteenth position. With Jason Riggs taking the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend off to prepare for the rapidly-approaching ‘World 100’ at Eldora Speedway, Randy Korte will be the lone Riggs Motorsports driver in action this weekend. Randy is scheduled to tackle a pair of UMP DIRTcar Series weekly events on August 30-31 at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and the Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri. Following those two races, Randy will also start gearing up for the $46,000 to win ‘World 100’ at the “Big E” on September 5-7.
