CARTERSVILLE, GA – After Week 23 of the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season, Trey Bright of Coker, AL and Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL remain tied for the point lead. Neither Bright nor Spears failed to net any points in Week 23 competition. Both drivers have a best 14 week total of 689 points.

Bright currently holds the tie-breaker with eight wins to seven wins for Spears. Bright also has 16 top five finishes and 19 top ten finishes in 25 races. Spears has 17 top five finishes and 22 top ten finishes in 22 races driving the Ross Designz.com Chevrolet powered by a $3,195 Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Bright walked away from a crash on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS that destroyed his AKA Cores Chevrolet. Bright is now scrambling to find a race car to finish out the four remaining weeks of the season. Bright drove Tommy McCafferty’s Oldsmobile on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS where he finished sixth, while Spears took the fourth spot.

Calvin Cook of Pace, FL drove the Foam Seal Insulation Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine to a seventh-place finish on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway to net one point and remain third in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points. Cook has two wins, 15 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 18 races.

Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA took his series-leading ninth win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, but failed to net any points, as it was a 40-point win with a car count of less than eight cars. Flynn has a best 14 week total of 657 points after nine wins, 14 top five finishes and 18 top ten finishes in 20 races driving the Flynn Racing Chevrolet.

Dave Nations of Raymond, MS did not compete in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 23 competition and is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 650 points. Nations has one win, nine top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 15 races driving the Street Stock Set Up Specialists Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS and Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS are tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings. Each driver has a best 14 week total of 627 points, and Willis has the tie-breaker advantage with two wins to none for Leftwich.

Willis had a ninth-place finish in the Willis Racing Chevrolet on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway to net one point. Leftwich did not net any points in Week 23 competition driving the American Portable Buildings Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine. Willis has two wins, 13 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes in 25 races. Leftwich has six top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 24 races.

Wayne Medders of Morton, MS did not net any points in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 23 competition, and fell to eighth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 626 points. Medders has five top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 24 races driving the Medders Construction Chevrolet.

Chad Hiers of Ocean Springs, MS did not compete in NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 23 competition, but remains ninth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 607 points. Hiers has nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 19 races driving the Hiers Construction Chevrolet.

Adam Cheeks of Guntown, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 599 points and one more week to earn full points. Cheeks has one win, nine top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 13 races driving the Flurry Motorsports Chevrolet.

In other NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 23 action, Brooks Strength of Jackson, MS drove the Strength Racing Special to a pair of $1,000 victories on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. Jeff Harry of Childersburg, AL took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Usery-Stroud Racing Chevrolet.

On Sunday night, Mark Barnett of Aberdeen, MS picked up his fourth NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the MC Construction Chevrolet powered by a Chevrolet Performance 602 Crate Engine.

A total of 256 drivers have earned points in the first 23 weeks of NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division competition.
