Josh McGuire Takes Rare Weekend Off Following Labor Day Weekend Doubleheader

(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) Josh McGuire and his #41 team struck out to the states of Ohio and West Virginia over the Labor Day holiday weekend to enter a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series biggies. On Saturday evening, August 31, Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio played host to the annual running of the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble,' which boasted a $15,000 winner's check. Josh timed in fourth quickest in Group A during the qualifying session and later scored the win in his loaded heat race. After starting third on the grid in the 50-lap feature event, Josh unfortunately suffered a flat tire and later retired from the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble' in the nineteenth position.

At I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia on Sunday night, September 1, the 45th edition of the 'Hillbilly 100' took place and a whopping $25,000 top prize was on the line. Josh got his night started by qualifying eighth fastest in Group B during time trials. Unfortunately, the Grayson, Kentucky hotshoe suffered problems in his heat race (broken liftbar bolt), which led to a ninth place finish, and he was unable to make the start in his B-Main. Therefore, Josh missed out on the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza, which was eventually won by Jimmy Owens. The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team is set to enjoy a rare weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition on September 6-7. Their next scheduled event will be the ‘One Epic Weekend’ at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio on September 12-14. Following a regular racing program on Thursday night, things will really heat up on Friday with preliminary events leading into a pair of $10,000 to win features on Saturday.
