Rod Conley Lands Trio of Top Ten Finishes in West Virginia and Ohio

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Rod Conley and his #71r team had a busy Labor Day holiday weekend, as he scored a trio of Top Ten performances at two different venues in West Virginia and Ohio. On August 29-30, Rod was in action during 'RaceFest' at the West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. On Thursday evening, the Wheelersburg, Ohio driver ran fourth in his heat race, won his B-Main, and later climbed eight spots in the $4,000 to win American Dirt Racing Association (ADRA) main event to score a seventh place finish. In the $10,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series program at WVMS on Friday night, Rod clicked off the nineteenth quickest lap during qualifying and finished seventh in his heat race prior to blasting past ten competitors during the 50-lap main event en route to a ninth place effort.

All three Conley Motorsports, Inc. drivers then converged on the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, August 31 for the annual running of the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble,' which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. "Hot Rod" timed in sixth fastest in Group A during time trials, finished second in his loaded heat race, and later posted a solid eighth place outing in the $15,000 to win A-Main. R.J. Conley broke a rear-end during his B-Main and received a track provisional to gain access into the 50-lapper where he wound up twenty-third in the final rundown driving his father's famous #71. The reason Delmas Conley's car was available for the feature was because he missed out on the 'Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble' after finishing ninth in his heat race and fifth in his B-Main. With Delmas and Rod Conley slated to take the upcoming weekend off, R.J. Conley will now set his sights on the 43rd running of the ‘World 100.’ The event known as “The Granddaddy of Them All” will take place on September 5-7 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. This Thursday and Friday night at the “Big E” will feature complete shows with a full slate of multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner. On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap ‘World 100,’ which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the ‘World 100’ is a record $283,910. R.J. has transferred into five ‘World 100’ feature events during his career with his best effort of seventh coming back in 2003.
