Jimmy Mars Heads to Eldora Speedway On Heels of Two Keystone State Showdowns

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team traveled to the Keystone State of Pennsylvania to open up their month of September at a pair of different speedplants. On Sunday evening, September 1, the Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania played host to the annual 'National Open,' which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Jimmy timed in seventh fastest in Group A during the qualifying session and later grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the $10,000 to win feature event from the inside of the seventh row, Jimmy unfortunately retired after only 38 circuits and was placed twentieth in the final rundown.

At the Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania on Monday, September 2, the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) presided over a huge $20,000 to win showdown. Jimmy, who came into the event as the NDRL point leader, qualified twenty-second fastest in time trials and once again finished fourth in heat race action. The Menomonie, Wisconsin star later rolled off from the inside of the eighth row in the 75-lapper and quickly moved up to sixth before a rash of flat tires struck the leaders.

By lap 71, Jimmy found himself in the lead and held the point for two laps until suffering his own right rear flat with only a couple of circuits remaining. He returned to the track at the tail and salvaged a ninth place performance, which dropped him back to second in the latest version of the NDRL point standings. Next up for the Mars Racing team will be the 43rd running of the ‘World 100.’ The event known as “The Granddaddy of Them All” will take place on September 5-7 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. This Thursday and Friday night at the “Big E” will feature complete shows with a full slate of multi-car time trials to split the field into even/odd groups followed by heat races, B-Mains, and twin 25-lap main events, each paying $5,000 to the winner. On Saturday, the time-honored format of six heat races, along with two B-Mains and B-Scrambles, will lead into the 100-lap ‘World 100,’ which boasts a hefty $46,000 top prize and the prestigious globe trophy.

The total posted awards for the 2013 edition of the ‘World 100’ is a record $283,910. Jimmy has transferred into the ‘World 100’ feature event on ten different occasions during his career with a best effort of fifth back in 2004.
