CARTERSVILLE, GA – While the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship trophy and the $10,000 check has Noah Daspit’s name already on it, there is still a lot to be decided in the four remaining weeks of the season. There are still nine other points fund-paying spots to be decided and the points are tight for second through tenth.
There are ten races over three days in six different states on the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 24 schedule. There will be two races on Friday night that will be held at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR and at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS.
A $1,000-to-win NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model race at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will highlight the Saturday night action. Saturday night will be a busy one, with drivers having a choice of competing at one of seven race tracks.
Also on Saturday night, NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Week 24 races are scheduled for Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS will be in action with a NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Model event on Sunday night. For the first time ever, there will be three NeSmith Racing Divisions in action at the same track on the same night on both Saturday night and Sunday night.
The Chevrolet Super Late Model Series, the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Late Models, and the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division will be on the same racing program on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park, and on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.
Daspit may have already captured the 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series Championship, but there are still two more reachable goals he can reach to put the icing on the cake.
Daspit needs one more 50-point win to become the first driver in the eight-year history of the series to post a perfect 14 week point total of 700. The second thing Daspit would like to see is his teammate Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS move up to the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings to give his car owner Billy Riels a one-two finish.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS is still in the running for the runner-up spot, as he is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 682 points and will be trying to net on a 41. Jeff Glisson of Boaz, KY is fifth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 673 points, and he will be trying to net on a 44.
Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 669 points and he will be trying to net on a 46. Robby Moore of Brosley, MO is seventh in the standings with a best 14 week total of 668 points and will be trying to net on a 46.
Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN holds down the eighth spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 665 points and will be trying to net on a 44 in Week 24 action. Cliff Williams of Star, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series standings with a best 14 week total of 660 points. Williams will be trying to net on a 41 in Week 24 competition. All drivers in the Top 20 of the point standings have reached the 14 week mark in their respective seasons.
Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 29. Drivers can compete in as many events available to then each week, only their best event point total for that week will count.
Once a driver reaches the 14-week point in their NeSmith Chevrolet Old Man’s Garage Weekly Racing Series season, they will begin to net points, by trying to replace the lowest weekly point total with a higher one. The Weekly Point Average is the average of their 14-week total, or up to the 14-week mark. A perfect point total is 700, and a perfect WPA is 50.
The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet OMG WRS National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.
