Birkhofer Racing Starts Gearing Up for Berlin After Long World 100 Weekend
(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Birkhofer Racing made their annual September pilgrimage to the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio from September 5-7 for the 43rd edition of the 'World 100.' The expanded format started with a pair of Twin 25s with each boasting a $5,000 winner's share. On Thursday night, Brian Birkhofer won his heat race and later moved up two spots in the 25-lapper on his way to a strong runner-up finish behind only victor Shane Clanton. At the "Big E" on Friday evening, Brian ran second in his heat race prior to moving up to finish seventh in the final rundown of the 25-lap prelim.
The huge three-day weekend then culminated on Saturday with the $46,000 to win 'World 100.' Brian advanced up to sixth in his stacked heat race and later grabbed the third transfer spot through his B-Main. After rolling off from the outside of the thirteenth row in the 100-lap crown jewel main event, the Muscatine, Iowa ace moved forward early in the race before ultimately retiring after 40 circuits. Brian was later paid for twenty-fifth at the pay window following the completion of the 'World 100.' Following Eldora, the #15b team plans to take the upcoming September 13-14 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition. Brian’s next scheduled event will be the 2nd Annual Keyser Manufacturing ‘Down & Dirty 100’ at the Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan on September 20-21. The two-day World of Outlaws Late Model Series extravaganza will start on Friday with qualifying and heat races, while the action at the dirt-covered asphalt oval will culminate with the consolation events and $20,000 to win A-Main on Saturday.
