Ponderosa Speedway Off Until Ironman Classic on October 11, Fall Classic on October 12
Junction City, KY-September 18, 2013- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Larry Yantz and track co-promoters Chad and Sarah Yantz will be off the next couple of weeks in preparation for the 2013 season finale events at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the 9th Annual Ironman Classic by CT Promotions goes on Friday October 11, while the track’s 23rd Annual Fall Classic closes out the 2013 racing campaign on Saturday October 12.
The track is closed on Friday September 20 for the Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway and will be closed again on Friday September 27 as there are several fall festivals in and around the area that weekend. Both of these dates were originally scheduled as race dates, but will now be off dates. The first Friday of October (October 4) was originally scheduled as an off date.
The Friday October 11 racing program will be the 9th Annual Ironman Classic presented by CT Promotions, with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $2,000 to win that evening. Also on the Friday October 11 racing program will be the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds racing for $1,500 to win and D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman racing for $500 to win. The Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Models will have the night off, but are welcome to race with the Super Late Model division, however, they must compete under Super Late Model division rules. The feature event payouts for all divisions for this event will be posted in an upcoming press release, along with gate times and admission prices as well.
The Saturday October 12 racing program will be the track’s 2013 season finale event and will be the 23rd Annual Fall Classic, with Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $5,000 to win, along with the Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds racing for $2,000 to win and D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman racing for $500 to win. The Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Models will have the night off, but are welcome to race with the Super Late Model division, however, they must compete under Super Late Model division rules. Ponderosa Speedway last raced on September 13 and feature event winners that evening included Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Michael England of Glasgow, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Models, and Allen Hackworth, Jr. of Waco, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman.
Current track championship point leaders heading into the Friday October 11 and Saturday October 12 events are Victor Lee of Danville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Benji Lee of Loretto, KY in Bluegrass Drug Store Modifieds, and Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers Sportsman. Track points are complete for the Smith Automotive Machine Shop Pro Late Model division and Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY is the 2013 track champion for the division.
