Jimmy Mars Picks Up First Win of 2013 in Strong Legendary 100 Weekend; Red Cedar Next

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team made the short trek to the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin from September 12-15 for the annual running of the 'Legendary 100.' Jimmy entered both a Dirt Late Model and an Open Wheel Modified throughout the weekend at the 3/8-mile facility. On Thursday night, Jimmy kicked off his busy weekend by leading all thirty circuits in the Late Model main event to score his first victory of 2013 and the $1,500 payday. Behind the wheel of his Modified, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star logged a sixth place performance in the $800 to win prelim.

When things ratcheted up on Friday, Jimmy ran strong in his heat races in both divisions and later won the Late Model dash and finished eleventh in the Modified dash. Following a rain-out on Saturday, Jimmy nearly pulled off the weekend sweep in the Late Model, but came up just inches short at the checkers of the $5,000 to win main event on Sunday to finish behind only winner Scott Gilberts. In the $3,000 to win Modified feature, Jimmy picked off seven competitors en route to a sterling fourth place run. Full results from the busy extended weekend at Cedar Lake can be accessed online at www.cedarlakespeedway.com.

Another big event in the area is on the schedule for Mars Racing on September 20-21, as they will travel literally right down the road to the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wisconsin for the 34th edition of the ‘Punky Manor Challenge of Champions.’ Jimmy will once again bring both his Dirt Late Model and his Open Wheel Modified to the Dunn County Rec Park this weekend. Heat races and dashes will be held for both classes on Friday night, while the feature events will headline the action on Saturday. A $5,000 top prize is up for grabs in the Dirt Late Model, while the winner of the Open Wheel Modified special will receive $2,000 for their efforts.
