CARTERSVILLE, GA – The final week of competition in the inaugural season for the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division has arrived. Even though the top two spots in the point standings have been decided, there are still ten drivers with a mathematical chance to earn one of the eight remaining Top 10 points fund-paying spots.

Week 27 of the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season has four races on the schedule beginning this Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS. Saturday night action will be highlighted by a $1,000-to-win race co-sanctioned by the Mississippi Street Stock Series at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.

Saturday night NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 27 events will also be held at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA and at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Trey Bright of Coker, AL is the 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Champion. Bright has a best 14 week total of 693 points and can still net on a 48 with the possibility of increasing his season total to 695 points. Kevin Spears of Fayette, AL has clinched the second spot in the standings with a best 14 week total of 690 points. Spears can also net on a 48 to bring his season total to 692 points.

Calvin Cook of Pace, FL is third in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings, and has Roger Flynn of Denham Springs, LA is in the fourth spot nipping at his heels. Cook has a best 14 week total of 672 points. and Flynn has a best 14 week total of 668 points.

Cook can net on a46 in the final week of the season that could possibly bring his season total to 676 points. Flynn can net on a 42, and he also has the potential to earn a total of 676 points. Should Cook and Flynn end up in a tie in points, Flynn has the tie-breaker advantage over Cook with more wins.

Adam Cheeks of Guntown, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 658 points and can net on a 41 in the final week of the season with the possibility of earning 667 points.

Dave Nations of Raymond, MS is sixth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 650 points, and can net on a 41 with the potential to earn a total of 659 points. Mark Barnett of Aberdeen, MS is seventh with a best 14 week total of 647 points and can net on a 41 in an attempt to earn a possible 656 points.

Jeremy Flurry of Smithville, MS is eighth in the standings with a best 14 week total of 642 points and he can earn a possible 651 points by netting on a 41 in the final week of the season. Brandon Leftwich of Meridian, MS is ninth in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 637 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43 with the potential to earn a total of 644 points.

Eddie Willis of Saucier, MS rounds out the Top 10 in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 634 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41 in final week of the season and earn a possible total of 643 points. There are two drivers in the second ten of the points chase that still have a mathematical chance to move up to the Top 10.

Wayne Medders of Morton, MS is 11th in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14 week total of 631 points, and will be trying to net on a 41 and the potential to earn a total of 640 points.

Kevin Whittington of Brandon, MS is 17th in the NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with 589 points, and still has one more week to earn full points. With a 50-point win in the final week of the season, Whittington can total of 639 points.

Drivers that race at NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts a driver’s best 14 weekly point totals during the 27-week season that runs through September 29. A perfect 14-week point score is 700 which represents 14 50-point wins.

Once a driver reaches the 14th week of competition they begin netting points by replacing the lowest weekly point total among their best 14 with a higher weekly point total. The 2013 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division champion will pocket $2,000 and the National point fund pays back to the Top 10 drivers at the end of the season.

A win with a car count of eight or more is worth 50 points and drops one point per position back to tenth spot. Drivers that finish tenth through field in the main event earn 41 points. Drivers that attempt to compete, but fail to start the main event earn 25 points. A win with a car count of less than eight is worth 40 points and drops back one point per position.
