MICHAEL PAGE HOLDS OFF COOK FOR $5,000 CRATE SHOWDOWN @ North GA Speedway.... 10/12

Michael Page of Douglasville, Georgia, driving the Rick Brady-owned # 47X, held off Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC, for the 60-lap, $5,000 victory in the National Title Pawn "1-Big Crate ShowDown" Saturday night/early Sunday morning. The third-starting Cook turned up the heat on Page amid traffic late in the race but settled for second in the special event for Late Models with crate engines. Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN, who started outside the front row, was third after swapping the lead with Page in the early laps. Tod Hernandez of Chattanooga, TN, rallied from his 13th starting spot to fourth for hard charger honors and Walker Arthur of Forest, VA, rounded out the top five finishers. The feature was slowed by a single caution for Kevin Burke's lap-31 spin. Page drove a GRT Race Car sponsored by T&T Trucking, Premier Transportation, McKenzie Auto Parts and C&S Electric. ... Page notched his third victory of the season and first since spring. ... Page, a two-time champion at Georgia's Dixie and Rome Speedways, usually drives his family-owned No. 18x, but he's spent late-season events in cars owned by Brady, Lamar Haygood and Buster Goss. ... Track conditions forced a two-hour delay and the feature started at 1:30 a.m. ... Tod Hernandez, who won the Limited Late Model feature, earned $50 for his 13th-to-fourth run.

If they had 31 cars, why did they only pay 22 on the drivers pay sheet?

RW57
10-13-2013, 02:21 PM
Said at drivers meeting they were only gonna start 22 cars unless the 2 cars that had locked in earlier did not qualify their way into race if they did not they would get spots 23 and 24 they both made it so only 22 cars raced.

Just wanted to thank NGS for having this race. This was my first time ever to NGS, my second race ever in a late model, and my second race ever on dirt. I was one of the cars that didn't make the feature, but I had a good time and certainly learned alot racing around many other better drivers.

We had my car way too loose in qualifying and the heat races and combined with my inexperience, we didn't make it out of the B-main. Hope to come down and race here again someday and make a better showing the next time.

After much soul searching and thought we have decided not to renew our lease for North Georgia Speedway for the 2014 season.
We want to thank ALL the fans, drivers and crews who have stuck with us this past year and a half, each one of you made all the work worth ever bit of it. To the staff and employee's it has been your hard work and dedication that has made everything we have accomplished this past season possible, for without you I would have NEVER been able to pull it off. We can't thank each of you enough. We know my family an staff are going to miss the camaraderie and all the new friends we have made but we feel life is leading us in another direction, so thanks for everything and we wish each of you the best in the coming year. An to the Young Family and North Georgia Speedway, we wish you success in the future.
To all the points Champions we will be in contact with you in the next few days to set up awards. WE WILL NOT FORGET YOU! this was on there facebook page.
Sincerely
Jason and MaryBeth Jones

No big loss if It is the last race the place is a crap hole has been for years. They need to sell it to someone that has some money no one is gonna spend money on something that is not theirs. The owners are not spending anything on it that's obvious to see.

I have never understood why it struggles they usually have good car counts but hardly any fans . Their purses under this gentleman were much better than Dixie and Rome I know because we ran all 3 places. I do not know if it is location as it is out in the middle of nowhere or no pr to let people know about it or what but it has been the same for the last 4 years. This promoter really tried and we should all thank him for that My opinion he tried to take care of racers first here is an example we got 50 dollars tow money in econo hobby vs 25 for at the 2 other tracks I mentioned that may not sound like much but that is gas money in car anyway other promoters would do well to look at what this man was trying to do.Maybe some one else will give it a go lets all hope so .One last thing promoters need to remember with out cars there would be no racing Racers need all the help they can get as purses have not went up in 30 years I know this first hand cars cost 3 to 4 times as much but purses remain the same.
