I was at a sprint car race a while back and I saw a car with a bunch of holes drilled in the blocks on the tire. I assume this was for cooling purposes BUT how in the hell do u drill holes in rubber?

molded that way from tire mfg.

Yeah i think that was from the manufacturers side. There is no way you can carve those holes itself, without getting the tire damaged.
