Ray Cook Sixth in Dixie Shootout; Set to Unload Crate this Weekend at North Georgia
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and his self-owned #53 team ventured to the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday evening, October 5 for the annual running of the 'Dixie Shootout.' Ray, who was once a regular on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, entered his first series race of the year at the Atlanta-area venue where a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Ray timed in second quickest in Group A during the qualifying session and later took the win in his heat race. After starting the 50-lap 'Dixie Shootout' from the inside of the second row, the Brasstown, North Carolina ace missed on tires a bit and wound up slipping to sixth at the finish behind only victor Chris Madden, Billy Ogle, Jr., Randy Weaver, Scott Bloomquist, and Jimmy Owens. The Ray Cook Racing team will keep their Super Late Model in the shop this upcoming weekend, as they plan to unload their Crate Late Model on Saturday, October 12 at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. The ‘Big Crate Showdown’ will be held at the northern Georgia facility and the winner of the 60-lap main event will receive $5,000 for their efforts.
