1-A TRIBUTE THIS WEEKEND AT LAVONIA SPEEDWAY
It will be the “1st Annual 1-A Tribute” this weekend. Not often has there been a tribute to a car number, but in this case the number has won events all over the country. Marshall Carey car owner, while first Reece Lester drove then afterwards Tommy Roberts got behind the wheel. Now Marshall’s son Brant Carey is behind the wheel of the 1-A limited late model keeping the family tradition alive and well. Reece Lester was the father of current track partner of Lavonia Speedway Stan Lester.
Lavonia Speedway will run this Saturday October 19th. In light of area speedways being closed this weekend Lavonia will hold a Saturday night event. “It was perfect timing” stated Brad York General Manager of Lavonia. “Toccoa is off this weekend due to the big super late model show there October 26th. That weekend Lavonia will be off working in conjunction with Toccoa. It’s our first “planned” Saturday night event of the season. We had to do a couple during the regular season from rain outs etc. The crate late models will run with the limited late models this Saturday as Modoc Speedway is having a race. A lot of our teams already had passes for that event so we won’t race against them.
The highest placing crate late model running with the limited late models this weekend will earn a $100 bonus, then $50 for second and third places (Based on the highest finishing crate cars, not their actual finishing positions).
“Classes will be: Front Wheel Drive, Limited late models (mixed with crates), Hobby, Modified street, Stock 4, Rookie 4 and we are going to try the STOCK 8 class this time and see what happens” stated York.
(Keep in mind all purses are based on 10 cars per class. Less than 10 purse is subject to being adjusted).
Grandstands: Gates open 5:00 $9.00 adults
Pits Open 4:00 $20 pits adults
Trackside opens 5:00 $12 adults
Drivers meeting: 6:45 Hot laps right after
