Ray Cook Runner-Up in Big Crate Showdown; Eyes Talladega Doubleheader

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Ray Cook Racing team stormed into the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday evening, October 12 for the 'Big Crate Showdown,' which boasted a $5,000 winner's check. Ray Cook qualified his #53 Crate Late Model third quickest during the time trial session, which locked him into the inside of the second row for the start of the 60-lap main event. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then battled for the lead on several different occasions during the feature before settling for a strong runner-up performance behind only race winner Michael Page. Complete results from North Georgia Speedway can be viewed online at www.northgaspeedway.net.

Ray and his self-owned #53 team will return to dirt-slinging competition on October 18-19 at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. The track deemed as the “Hornets’ Nest” will preside over a pair of shows this upcoming weekend that coincides with the NASCAR Sprint Cup events across the street at the Talladega Superspeedway. An unsanctioned $2,000 to win race will kick things off on Friday evening, while the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) will roll into TST on Saturday night. The 40-lapper on Saturday will pay $4,000 to the winner. Additional information can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.talladegashorttrack.com.
