Mars Racing Preps for Dirt Track World Championship Following Pittsburgh

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Mars Racing wrapped up the inaugural 2013 version of the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) tour on October 11-12 at the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, Pennsylvania. In night one of the 'Pittsburgher 100' weekend on Friday, Jimmy Mars finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main. After starting the $10,000 to win feature event from the outside of the eleventh row, Jimmy was able to move up five spots in the 50-lapper on his way to a seventeenth place performance.

In the NDRL finale on Saturday evening at PPMS, the 25th edition of the 'Pittsburgher 100' boasted a hefty $25,000 payday. Jimmy ran fourth in his loaded heat race, but later suffered a flat tire in his B-Main, which dropped him to a thirteenth place finish. After taking use of a NDRL provisional to gain access into the 100-lap extra-distance affair, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace was able to salvage a fifteenth place effort. Following the completion of the 'Pittsburgher 100' weekend, Jimmy was credited with a third place finish in the final NDRL point standings. Full results from PPMS can be obtained by clicking on www.thendrl.com.

Jimmy and his #28 team have now turned their focus to the 33rd Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship,’ which will be held this weekend (October 18-19) at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio. The season finale for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will start with qualifying and heat races on Friday night, while the huge weekend will conclude on Saturday evening with consolation events, $3,000 to win ‘Jim Dunn Memorial’ Non-Qualifiers Race, and 100-lap ‘Dirt Track World Championship.’ A whopping $50,000 payday will go to the winner of the DTWC, while each main event starter will receive at least $2,000.

Cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios will once again be on hand at PRP throughout the weekend to tape the dirt-slinging action for broadcast on Fox Sports 1 and MavTV. Jimmy was the 2009 winner of the ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ when it was held at the Lawrenceburg (IN) Speedway and will be looking for his second race title this weekend.
